Clio Big Steve's RB Clio 182 Cup Restoration

The place that did the work have any feedback?

Yeah they've said the issues appear to be odd, but my problem is getting the car to & from them now. I can't just jump into the car and thrash down there like everyone else and I would have previously done, my licence only covers auto's now, so i need to catch @Millie_Bee in the right mood to drive there & back...

Get clip hooked up as the generic scanner will lead you up the garden path.

It will most likely be squib or brake switch knocking asr light on.

Misfire prob be injector or lambda etc, get test meter on the injectors and measure resistance.
I saw @Adey mentioned brake light switch earlier... now you... is it worth me trying to just get one from the motor factors and bosh it on??

with regards to the brake switch, if its not set at the correct distance from the pedal the car throws a wobbly, so may just need adjustment rather than a new part. Squib was the other thing in the back of my mind, even more so with the "trajectory control" fault.

You NEED to get clip, it will tell you loads more info.

I think you have a few separate issues there

I’ve got CLIP but the laptop it’s on has taken a 💩 🤯

I’ve ordered an external hard drive enclosure to see if I can boot up the Hard Drive from the duff laptop, on another one I’ve got… to see if I can get CLIP fired up..?

What the error on the laptop @Big Steve - Raider. Whatsapp me if you prefer?
Just won’t turn on mate. The power supply seems to have broken, but it’s an old ugly thing, so hoping I can get round it.

The connector on the end of the power supply is like an old plug from all the games we used to have as kids, trouble is the output from it is high, so nothing else I’ve got seems to match.

Send me a picture ( or add it here )

Only some of them have xenons. Clio 182 trophy has normal headlamps.
I tought every Clio Sport has a xenon headlights?

@frenchkey Yep @Brigsy is correct, this cars a Clio 182 Cup, so to satisfy the lightweight “Cup” nature of the Car, Renault fitted standard headlights.

It was the Clio 182 Cup that Renault fitted the posh Sachs suspension to, and painted red and sold them as Trophy’s

Small update from Alex at AW Motorworks whilst I lay here in the beautiful sun on Kefalonia 🇬🇷

Well, AC had a slight leak, although am now actually changing many seals, going to rectify that before going any future into making sure it all works properly.

ABS all checks out & this morning after not moving it since Friday night - lights went out.

I suspect a faulty ABS module, I’ve got a spare here I’m going to plug in & see what happens. Bet it’s got a bad joint internally.

Nipped down to see Alex this morning to pick up my transponder for the toll roads in France for this weekends Monthlery event. (Can’t stand the faff of stopping to pay all the time!)

The team at AW we’re working on the car whilst we there, and had diagnosed that the ABS control module/solenoid block had a random reoccurring error that would bring up the lights on the Dashboard.

So car not ready as yet.

A/C suspected as a few leaking seals, so they have been replaced… let’s see on that one..

Wednesday 10th July 2024, and as I write this. England have just beaten The Netherlands 2:1 in the Semi-Final of the European Football Championship and going on to play Spain in the final this coming Sunday.

Is Football finally coming home this year????

Well I tell you what did come home from AW Motorworks today, my Clio 182!!!

  • A/C finally blowing properly Cold 🥶
  • Not a single light on the dash.
Gutted that she wasn’t ready for LPI 2024, but taking the Meggy was the right decision in the end.

A/C was leaking primarily from the big valve between the engine-bay and the Evaporator in the car, and some of the seals had dried out.

Going to see if I can twist @Millie_Bee ‘s arm and take a run to Hunstanton one evening soon..

In the meantime COME ON ENGLAND 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
