5 GT Turbo Better starting GT Turbo?

No mods make it start with less cranking. If you have the old clicky starter when the engine is hot slip a 30amp 4 pin relay in and a new exciter wire to the starter solenoid.

Not heard that one before sounds well 'pikey' lol. Back in the day it was said that binning the aei relay improved starting but i never seen any difference myself.

Hot starting always takes 3 million turns of the starter due to fuel evaporation. Efi would sort that

as briggs has said mate, the relay only cures the voltage drop due to old wireing if you are getting the "click click" syndrome. The old raider not like waking up this year ??
As for why some c1js seem to start first time from cold and other cough and splutter for ages, im not sure ?!

I've not even tried to wake the Raider from it's winter slumber yet @Kris M, but I've bought myself a new bad @ss high power battery to replace the old manky one. It's just your car sounds different to the Raider when it starts, as I mentioned when I was down your way recently.

My 21 has that, click...click....click...turn over. Well annoying.

Slot a 4 pin 30amp relay in @DaveL485, use the original exciter wire to trigger the relay and new feed to exciter from relay. This will give you a nice strong 12v to the solenoid. I had the same problem with the van and had 9v or less due to current drop through the ign barrell, alarm immobiliser, old wiring etc

Will do pal, I thought it was the 26yo starter playing silly buggers but I changed it last week when the engine came out for the clutch and it still does it....fecks sake!
