Best code reader for Renault

Ok so having sold most code readers and vx220 specific stuff I had previously. I want to buy something suitable for the new (old) family love bus aka grand espace 3.5 v6 powered gas guzzler

I have a abs/tc to investigate so more a tool for when needed and also future servicing etc

The icarsoft rt2 looks an easy out the box option and does epb stuff but no idea if any good

TR recommendations please

I used a ODB2 Wifi dongle with DashCMD on my meg. Worked and read the fault codes and cleared the,

Yep had similar also and do most basic options needed. Guess not knowing the espace era and electronic handbrake setup etc along with the current issue to fix looking to invest half decent one

This is indeed the close option but had mixed experiance with copies (not reno) and able to rely on data provided....

Renault can Clip clone or genuine. Nothing else comes close for diagnostics especially the generic OBD scanners as they hardly pick up anything. Not had any issues with the clones i have used regarding data, have always been fine picking up fault codes/live data.

Any particular version recommended seems an array of v164 - v171 but expect most will work on circa 2003 era

Any should be ok. I think some clone clips have better chipsets than others so might be worth having a look into it before buying.

clip all day. i recently dug the old one out and it still worked fine bar the laptop now needing a constant charger plugged in.

Codes are usually incorrect mate. Ive never trusted the generic shite after torque said Shezs meg was running 25lbs boost lol

Agree some bits are at best guesswork. The torque and hp one was ambitious at best!

Took a punt on nearly new 2nd hand renault CAN Clip v168 for £30 + delivery will let you know how it goes....sorry forgot to skimlink it the shame of it

Hopefully can code an extra card key also as I only have the one atm

Need to give the love bus a good service while fixing abs fault also

Weekend running around upto an average 13.4mpg after more steady run to work lol

generics are ok for basic engine ecu codes. the clip talks to each system individually so can interigate for different codes and different faults on different systems. same as vagcom does for all the vag stuff. wipes the floor with a generic obd reader

Autel MaxiDiag Elite MD802 will get the job done. I have used Torque lite on my phone for years with a blue tooth OBD conector but that was limited to engine codes but pretty good for a free app.
