Colour is the biggest descision. The car was originally 462 alpine blue, but I am not sure about the colour with the arches, so I painted (with cans) the period pearl white and the alpine bleu. If its pearl white it will have the period dark grey bumpers and roof spoiler, with the original alpine stickers and the TURBO writting on the door?
what do you think, any suggestions welcome
Not yet but arches being fillered and the rear arches now fit nicely, I have moved onto the front arches now and modifying the radius to accept the wider wheels.
Are you able to supply front and rear coil over shocks for an 1983 Renault 5 alpine turbo
Thanks
gary"
no not coil-overs, the only ren 5 that has coil-overs is the mid engine one the 5 alpine/turbo 76-83 are telescopic dampers only nigel

Thanks for the mail, I am aware of that with the mid engine however there was also a groupe 2 specification as in the pictures I sent which use coil overs, These fit the standard alpine mounts and keep the torsion bars to assist.
I can buy a coil over conversion to convert the ones that are on the vehicle which are billstein, but was wondering if are able to supply unit as a coil over
Thanks gary"
"gary i see, have to say sorry could not help with this one, never seen the spec etc if you had sample ones we could help, we would not know what spring length and rate to use
would be a bit of development needed etc
I fitted coilovers to my car using AVO's but speced them on myself, I run 275lbs/in on the rear I cant remember off the top of my head what the front spring rate is.
I still use the front torsion bars but got rid of the rear bars and fitted a brace between the rear turrets I also seam welded the shell.
Rear Wheel arches seam welded and gussetted, I could not believe the amount of flex between the arches and the body prior to welding. this was without doubt the worst area and will definately benefit from strengtheneing, I will also intall a brace along the top mounts.
Looking really good. Are you going to keep the torsion bars? I guess you can remove them if you use tubular front wishbones and add the extra strength to the shell.
Have you thought about a roller bearing rear trailing arm conversion... removing the rubber bushes that support the trailing arms? I think it makes a massive difference (my Dad did it once), but is alot of work and expense.
