Twingo Adey's Twingo GT (F4R+T 2.0ltr engine swap)

I agree - grind out 1mm clearance, job done! Cheap effective easy upgrade

PMT

actually easier said than done. my little grinder doesnt reach in the calliper, ideally a 9 inch would do it nicely. Ive done what i can with a flap on a drill but will likley revisit it again. Im tempted to to get another set of callipers and get them milled off nicely.

My bur was a little worse for wear, gave it a go with everything i had that fit in a drill lol. So far no noises or grinding now so ill check it next weekend if nothing rears its head.

Feels good though, a little more modulation in the pedal, less snappy if that makes sense? Pulls up so much harder when asked, might need to look at a stub axle swap at a later date to clio/twingo items to ditch the drums.

Dug a load of pipework and the intercooler, add that too the clio tce turbo outlet pipe and i think i nearly have whats needed for the fmic to be bolted on and fit. Fingers crossed ill get this started and finished this weekend.

The size of the turbo outlet and pipework on the car is so small its funny. Probably done like it for fast response and spool plus the turbo itself is very small. Ive taken the front off ready for mocking up and to see if i can get things to fit. fingers crossed i cam complete it this weekend.

Aaaaannnnnnnd done. Roughed out the pipework then chopped out the crossmember a little..... dusted all edges with some black paint i had lying around to hold off corrosion. I did at one point think id have to ditch the AC as it was tight but think i have that sorted now using a mix of oem and aftermarket pipes. I may have to revisit the intercooler to inlet pipe as i had to sleeve over a pre formed plastic pipe. Ideally the whole part wants replacing but it would require some sort of adapter making to the inlet manifold. The only real issue i have come against is the oil filler, it no longer fits correctly due to the clio turbo outlet pipe being fitted, i will shortly be googling the clio or wind parts to see if they will clear. Pics in no particular order

you need a project @Ricardo (y) tis nice to spanner a little on this car, easy stuff to do too with the brakes and now the cooler. Need to look a at a few more things then on to mapping i guess.

The correct coilovers have also been ordered so hopefully they will be here in the week so that might be next weekends spannering sorted

Will sit so much better on coilies 👌

I've seen a silver phase 1 Clio 172 I wouldn't mind buying to restore

Do it man, before the prices go up. I keep spying 172 exclusives, wouldnt mind one to stash away.

Great work Adey, looking forward to how it performs.

Are you doing anything ref ecu map with these changes, or are you in the 'safe' range of what the ecu can adapt to?

For now no, the ecu should adapt fine as a bigger cooler is not that different too driving on a cold day all the time? Much more than this is a bigger change and will need mapping up. Next for me performance wise will be a fuel pump, bigger injectors, bigger turbo and big custom downpipe, if the clutch holds up i hope to hit 140+bhp, Id love a solid 150bhp out of it.

negligible between this and the oem setup i bet. were talking 7psi of boost nothing mental, the turbo may spin a bit harder to reach the required levels but as all the sensors its uses are after the intercooler it wont know any difference really.
