Twingo Adey's Twingo GT (F4R+T 2.0ltr engine swap)

isnt it just, might give them a little lick of paint after the winter has passed but they should be fine for commuting on.
Silver suits it, sits well but like you say a cheeky spacer to bring them more flush with the arches. Will make the difference

So some may know ive just moved house, this morning i was planning to clear out the garage so i have a little more space, then i got bored and found loads of old bits of pipe kicking about. Unleash the inner pmt. Only for shits, giggles and noise but i threw an open filter on the twingo and blanked off the dump valve 😁

also picked up the wheel center covers off a mate today so chucked them on. the daily drive from the country side is taking its toll on the car, forever dirty now, ill have to do that cleaning thing with wax and stuff to help at somepoint. 20181208_155729.webp

Been doing some digging around and stuff on potential upgrades, hard work as no one in the uk does much more than a injector swap and map. I contacted a company who were happy to hybrid the turbo for me, great stuff, not too big an outlay ether. Then i did some old skool thinking and tried to find a turbo that would swap on. Actually very hard to do with very little information available, but....... after about 3 days of internet searching i may have found a near bolt on solution for a bigger blower. It will need clocking and a custom down pipe (i needed one anyway) but should be a good upgrade if it works. We will see.

Turbo found and is super cheap, hopefully it can be made to work. There are a few variations of the turbo and fittments but it looks like it should work.

The stock turbo is a Mitsubishi unit, it looks to be a td02 or a td025 unit. This new unit is a Mitsubishi tf035. Comes fitted to 160bhp engines so should be capable as an upgrade. Fingers crossed itll fit up nicely.

They dont fit different flange. That was the issue with trying to find something as a direct swap. Plus a td04 is a 200+bhp turbo and likley to be a lag slag, got to remember ive only got 1149cc trying to spin it

could be but i've got 12t in my head for some reason but we looked at loads of them at one point so i could be talking crap!!!

ill see how i get on with the turbo ive ordered so far. Could be a lost cause, i can make up an adapter plate no worries though, made one not too long ago when i was running a td04 off a WRX on the C1J's t2 manifold. My main concern was trying to keep the turbo small enough to still spool on such a small engine but flow enough to be a worth while upgrade. This turbo seems to be used a fair bit in Australia as an upgrade on the stock 1.3 starlet/Glanza. We will see (y)

Updates, turbo should be here friday so i can take a closer look at a swap.

I have some 20mm spacers on the way to help fill the arches a touch more.

Ive dug out the old mk1 clio turbos intercooler too, needs a tidy up but considering it fits a mk1 and mk2 clio ok it should fit the twiglet with a little angle grinder action. Fitting that is my christmas job weather permitting.
