Twingo Adey's Twingo GT (F4R+T 2.0ltr engine swap)

Injectors done already and collected. I gave my buddy them with no info and he messaged me at lunch time saying they were done, all good and then made sure they were 480cc as that's what they came in at. So all clean and ready for mapping.

Slapped them in and the car started really well and idles loads smoother than it had done previously 👍🏻

So pulling off is a pig sometimes and it likes to cut out every so often when coming to a stop and the revs drop, and even without being able to open it up, its FAST!. I know I've not driven anything really quick for a while but this thing will do nearly a 100 in a blink without trying and my foot hardly on the throttle. I'm actually a little worried about how it will be once I can really lean on it. Gearbox is also giving an indicated 70mph and 2950rpm so decent for cruising on the motorway (y) not sure I will ever want to test its 150+mph capability though. Even with not being able to drive it hard id say it would show up the old engine going full tilt! 😲

1 calendar month until mapping, so a fair bit of time to rack up the miles and fix things as they break. On the brakes, the bigger master cylinder has really improved the feel of the pedal with the Peugeot callipers on, definitely a worth while change just for the pedal feel and feedback, much more like a 172 now (y)

I do have a heavy smell of fuel inside the car after a drive, i will tighten the locking collar up and hope its that, I did block off the vapour return line to the tank, maybe its pressurising or something now though if I remove the cap I don't get a hiss or anything.

Fluids ordered from Opie oils so next week sometime ill give it all a change.

I will get it on some scales at some point, stock is so say sub 1000kg, I've removed some seats and safety but added more engine, should be close.

Fingers crossed for 250bhp per tonne to match an e92 m3 (y)

Knew it felt pretty quick vs the old engine!

So I have a friend who has a dyno, plopped the Twingo on there to make sure it was fuelling ok and not knocking its tits off whilst racking up the miles. All good at cruise and very close to lambda when driving normally. So we gently increased the throttle to see how it would react. It'll hit boost cut if you ask too much too early in the revs and you can see it modulating the throttle position trying to keep things in check but its in the low 11s/high 10s when it comes on boost and at high revs so safe enough for now, enough for me to lean on it and try and brake things. Still drives like a pig at very light throttle though.

So the reading we got, because you know when on the dyno you might as well see what its reading. On a twingo gt ecu mapped for a completely different setup its putting down just shy of 200bhp and 230ftlb. Nice :D Cant wait to feel how it goes when you can actually plant your foot down and just hold on :D

Indeed, not like we did it blind though, couldn't hear any knock on his headset and its rich as really. Last thing I want is to not put any miles on it and then have silly things fail on the dyno 3 hours from home when just driving it around could of found them. When cruising the lambda sensors pull the fueling inline anyway and with no load its actually quite safe to do. I won't be screaming down the road in it but I can give it a little poke without too much worry.

Oh I need to praise @opieoils too, I ordered a 6ltr service pack of millers oil from them yesterday and didn't bother clicking the fast delivery/next day option or anything, its here today (y) super fast service and with our TurboRenault.co.uk discount a decent price too (y)

Also on the way is the correct orientation gear selector so I should be able to swap out mine and the gear selection will no longer be upside down :D

Cracking combo on this car, great work and ingenuity
It'll be right little fighter when it's set up.

Hopefully it holds together (y) Its been fun to build so far, has definitely helped keep me a little sane this year for sure. Really looking forward to being able to properly use it (got hold of an old gopro too so will definitely be trying to capture it against other stuff at some point (y))

Oh on another note i sold the old dual mass flywheel, further lowering the cost of this build :D

Not too bad considering the current map is prob miles off! It will go well when Chris gets his hands on it for sure.

Does the twingo ecu run knock sensor? The meg ecu’s are quite decent in that respect and pull timing if it dets a bit.

Yeah runs a knock sensor too (y) its a million miles away 😂 but safe enough for racking up the miles. Getting hyped now for mapping, its just such a long wait to get it done. At least there's plenty of time to find issues. Had a clicking/knocking briefly when turning yesterday so i think the driveshaft might need looking at, couldn't get it to make the noise twice though so need to get out and see if i can make it happen again to pin point where its coming from.
