Twingo Adey's Twingo GT (F4R+T 2.0ltr engine swap)

Anyone else still give their car a once over every weekend? Every sunday the car gets a once over for all fluids, pretty much only ever gets a washer fluid top up. New plates from pro plates have been fitted after an advisory from the mot man.

I've not actually been using it that much as I've been using the fabia vrs as the daily, quite nice to plod along in tbh. Auto DSG goodness along with a supercharged and turbocharged engine. Poor twingo.

Whats the cleaning thing.......? poor car see's 30 to 50 miles a day when in use, motorway and country lanes, it gets trashed. Should really give it some proper protection.

Checking the car over is something ive always done, just not noticed others doing it for years now. Used to see people outside doing bits and bobs on the weekends.

Think you're looked down upon these days for doing your own maintenance, my neighbours always look bemused when I've got daily jacked up swoping a balljoint for MOT, gives people a superiority frame of mind having some poor east European wash his Audi/BM for him.
Best leave it at that.....I'd shoot any bloke who rang AA for a flat tyre...
I remember as a sprog, our road in summer, every bloke would be rattle can-ing bottom of Cortina doors, under seal line getting higher every year, two fellas swoping a clutch on a Viva, whilst three watched smerking tabs....and they wouldn't be drinking lager out of bottle neither...mmnnneeerrr!

Nope, just when something doesn’t sound and or feel right.

It’s really bad considering one of the first thing I do when I get to work is go over what ever POS I’ve been given for the day. We’re just about past the days of spray painted duct tape to cover holes 😬

I think the problem now is the dashboard tells you everything you need to know, even if screen wash needs topping up. People have become reliant on computers to tell them what they should be checking for themselves.

Hands on skills have declined since the rise of ict and people know there’s no money in spinning spanners, everybody wants to be an online millionaire

Had some pics sent of some parts I've had laser cut, hopefully they will be with me in the week. I struggled like hell to find an exhaust downpipe flange for my turbo in stainless, infact the only place I could find one was OZ but the company wouldn't ship. A friend at work mentioned about someone in the drag racing scene who offered a service of laser cutting from templates so I got his details and made some cardboard cutouts of what was needed, the pics are what he is sending back.

A few more parts arrived for the big turbo conversion. Need to get a cheap universal actuator on there and buy in some stainless bends and straight and i can start on the down pipe. I will probably mate it to the decat pipe i already have for ease though i might try and increase the outlet size off the turbo from 2 inch to 2.5 to aid spool. Don't want to run a full 2.5inch system though as for the power and size of the engine im sure it would be overkill. The rear housing is already divorced so i had the flange made to suit it, trying to stop myself giving it a bonnet screamer pipe and make it so it rejoins the DP. Car also clocked over to 47k this morning, pretty sure it was sub 35k when i got it.

On this day a year ago I took ownership of the twingo. Says alot for the car tbh as bar the LeCar 2 Turbo I've not owned one as long in the last 10 years, especially a daily driven car. How long this will continue I dont know but it's a good motor all round. Not fast but fun and capable. Can tinker with it and runs on minimal costs. Brilliant car to be fair and still feels like a modern r5 gtt to me. Happy ownership day twingo 😂
