SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooo after the demise of the shit kicker clio i had a think about what to get to replace it........
A few weeks ago when collecting my work van from the garage i noticed a clio 182 stuck at the back of the compound looking sorry for itself. Initially i did make a few calls to find which garage it belonged too (there's a few in the same place) but i didn't really follow it up as i wasn't really in the market for one and the asking price was a little high. I did a little research on the car and found its old mot's also letting me know how long it'd been off the road. Came in at 3+years! It was covered in green mold but other than that i knew nothing and didn't have a proper look. Anyway after the car let go i thought id give it another look. I went down on the quiet to take a better look at it. It wasn't too pretty inside but on the outside she was very straight and looked like it just needed some tires from a first look. An offer was made without knowing it ran but was countered. I agreed a price for it if it was a runner and here i am today with another Renault needing work...........
how she was found

So jez and myself headed off to the garage for 9 ish this morning to "tow" the car home, probably about 3 miles tops. No biggy really, jez had a tow bar and i had dug out a clio towing eye. Turned up to see the car in its sorry state but out of the bush and with a fresh battery on she jumped into life. I was told the alternator had been disconnected as it started to smoke on the jump pack. Not sure if its duff or was just massively overloaded with the original 4 year old battery on so ill take a look at that. Also the heating wasnt working and the clutch pedal was on the floor. Both not massive issues but the car was frozen on the inside as its soaked in there! Out came the window scraper and we got her hooked up the the tow vehicle. We made good progress for about 15 meters and then on the first proper load up of the bar BANG!!!!! the clio towing eye sheared off. FFS now were stuck with a car that has no clutch cable and looks like its been pulled out of a bush........ I wont go to much into it but the car has made it home with a very brief trip on the road under its own power.....
How she was on collection

The car does have a powerflow back box...... and what looks to be apex lowering springs but apart from that everything looks to be OEM even down to an unsnapped ecu bracket and the acoustic valve pipework and airbox feed!
Got it back home, and dumped it on the grass for a few hours, need to get rid of the shit kicker clio to free up some space. All i have managed to do so far was rinse the worst of the grime off using a 1 bucket and 1 sponge method lol and fairy liquid. Just to take a quick better look and make it a little more presentable. There are a few marks around the car but not many, and i do hope most will polish out with minimal effort. So over the next week or 2 i hope to get the car fixed and ready for a mot. Jez has donated alternator to the cause and another friend has a clutch cable. If they fix the issues ill just need a bonnet latch, tires and a dam good interior cleaning/drying and it "should" get through a test. I might find more bits needed once i get under it but to be fair it goes and stops ok so far.....
Up close with the grime that seems to have helped protect the car

And after a quick rinse. Ill dig out the pressure washer for a proper going over soon
