Your Car History

Currently looking at 2.7 Cayman's or the latest RenaultSport Megane.............I’m guessing I’m not asking on an unbiased forum

Honestly... The Porsche. I'll probably be shouted at but it's a no brainer for me. But I do love Porsche :ax:

My car history is pretty slim in comparison.

Number on was my first car in 2004.
Renault 5 Campus Prima. L reg with 24k on the clocks. Prefect condition but could've looked better - que the detailing obsession :ap:
I don't have a single photo of it, not ever. but it had 15's on, lowered a bit and a big loud exhaust.

Second up was a brand new 54 plate Ford KA.
Again, no photos, but it was completely original spec - panther black with black plastic bumpers. Traded in 2 years later with 7k on it.

Third (and one I'd like to own again). 2006
Ford Sport KA SE.
I got a stupid deal on the first KA, so when I traded it in, I only ended up paying about £500 more for the newer Sport KA.

December 2007 came around. I searched for 2 years for one particular car. One I'd wanted since I was 10.
this shed of a car turned up in a barn in Cornwall, the only one for sale in those 2 years - so i had to have it.
It's changed a lot since then. I still have it and hopefully i can keep it forever and ever.

2010 - I'd always loved rally cars. Being a bit older, wiser and insurance friendly... I bought a stupid daily car.
owning it at the height of fuel prices meant it was too costly to justify so on it went just over a year later :(

2011 - the diesel daily.
I vowed this would stay standard, practical and just a nice run around... that lasted a whole week.

Still have the Bora. It's lower, shinier. I always think about selling it and getting something else with some performance... then I look at the MPG's and keep it.

We tried a compo but noone was willing to risk it .

Try it again ?

I still have some things you donated last time ! Raffle ?

Just thinking out loud but yes I'd be happy to put it up as a prize - raffle with proceeds to the forum or first prize for chosen logo something like that

I found that T2 sump baffle btw, not long after the new engine was put in....with the Gordini baffle fitted, the one that you sent up, so nothing lost. I may have found someone who can make a copy thinking about it

First car I had was a 106 quiksilver
image.webp
Then I had a 106 gti
image.webp
And another gti

Got my megane r26 then, (still have it)
image.webp

Got a Laguna dci as a runabout
Only car I don't have a pic of

Swapped the Laguna for a 182 as the Laguna was boring
image.webp

Needed a bigger car so swapped the 182 for this Passat sport 1.8 20v turbo

Only car I have at the moment is the r26, had it over 3 years now :)

Whoa that's a whole lotta Saab lovin going on there @L1011! :ai:

My father had a heap of Saabs back in the day, 3x 9000's and 3 X 9000 CSE's and I loved them! Wanted him to get a Carlsson or Aero but he always just plumped for the regular Turbo. My favourite was a high pressure 9000 Turbo in Odarado Grey Metallic. Used to proper throw you back into the seat... :grin.gif::grin.gif:

You still got any Saab's?

Hi

You mean these seats......the superb recaro made Saab 9000 aero seats:

I loved them so much when I got my last Saab project (2012) I was undecided between the great handling of the c900 or the great seats of the 9000 Aero.

So in the end I bought another 900 then found a 9000 Aero being broken and bought the seats. Lots said they wouldn't go in because they were too wide but they were fine:

Even wires for power:
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1452356568.983643.webp

So I built this up but sold it last April and bought the current RS175 the same day:

I needed a derv for my 80 mile commute.

Back to the 9k. Possibly the best all round car I've ever owned.

- with a map rework they'll reliably but out 250BHP/430Nm which in 1450kgs is quite nice.
- they'll return 35mpg on a run
- with springs, dampers and some poly plus larger ARBs they can handle nice and flat and fast
- got everything you'd need, climate, electrics, cruise
- massive boot and folding seats
- Aero seats are amazing
- look good in the right spec/colour
