2 pictures of the DASH2 bracket. Designed in Alibre, tool paths in MasterCam and then cut by my Heiz s400. Was my first attempt at something like this, machining marks are because this is a prototype so I was not overly concerned about getting the speed/feed spot on I just wanted to see if it would all actually work...

It clamps to the steering column assembly, allows adustment for height and incline and weighs hardly anything. In a true example of being an absolute materials tart those shiny blue cap heads are titanium

Just a quick(ish) update - some motivation has finally returned and with that a decision to finally get the wiring finished. This meant I needed to fit switches etc to my centre console, a flocked plywood thing that took me time to build. I looked at it and then at the expensive machinery I now posses and thought I maybe able to do something a little different and thus began a journey into the most complex CnC project I've tried so far…
So firstly the design would be radically different - a design that wraps around the existing gear stick mounting/bracket and offers a sloping surface into which the various switches would be mounted. After around 12 hours of CAD time, 4 hours of cutting and probably a shortened life span due to inhalation of aluminium and WD40 I ended up with 9 aluminium parts:

These parts would need drilling and tapping so that they could be assembled into the final thing and it would all be be held together with shiny (and very expensive parts from Pro-Bolt):

Of course the console would be useless without switches and so I needed some of those. I chose APEM toggle switches; there's nothing flash about them, no blue lighting or fighter pilot style covers just very good quality switches:

To connect the console to the loom I wanted to use something that would allow me to remove it if necessary so some money sent to Filcon resulted in a nice MilSpec socket along with a MilSpec crimping tool from RS:

Of course the real purpose of the console was to provide a support for the various switches etc so I did a test fitting:

The thin end houses switches that I'll not have to use all the time I'm driving so Battery On, Battery Off, Fire Extinguisher, Ignition, Fuel Pump and Starter:

I've got a tumbler turning up next week which will clean the machining marks from the ally which will then be sent to be anodised black but before that happens I'll do a test fit - I'm hoping it fits first time…
