Date - Saturday 7th to Sunday 8th June 2025
Location – Thirlestane Castle, Lauder TD2 6RU
This is an invite to the BVAC Classic event taking place on the 7th to the 8th of June at the stunning Thirlestane Castle, Lauder located in the Scottish Borders. At this time, we need to gauge numbers of those interested and ideally committed in attending as we need to register as a club as early as possible but before mid-April.
With the demise of the Silverstone Classic/Festival I wanted to try and get something in the diary for this year. I have also attended this event in 2022 and 2023 and I really enjoyed it.
Please find a link which gives some additional information and a video which gives a feel for the event.
BVAC Classic - Borders Vintage Automobile Club
Saturday 7th of June –
No public attendance on Saturday but we would be invited to take part in the ‘Borders Scenic Run’ this starts at the esplanade of the Castle with a specific route planned. This will be fantastic as the scenery and roads in this part of the world is special.
This should also allow us time to be set up and have time for a few beers ready for the next day.
Sunday 8th of June –
All car clubs need to be in place by 10.30am.
I believe it opens to the public at 11am then closes 5pm. Vehicle movements would be restricted during this time.
They have a ‘Best combination of vehicle and dress competition’ should you so wish. Think I have a white and black striped t-shirt somewhere!
Entry fees –
Somewhat of a bargain compared to Silverstone….
Entry fee is £12 inc VAT this is per vehicle and passengers. Bargain!
Accommodation –
On site camping and a parking for caravans is available – Thirlestane Caravan Park.
Camping - £6 per night
Caravan site - £12 per night
Advanced booking is required.
The village of Lauder is also a 15-minute walk which has some hotels.
Hoping we get some good interest for this, apologies the notice is late in the day. We were looking at another event which didn’t work out. Rough travels times below – to give a rough idea.
Aberdeen > Lauder – c3hrs
Manchester > Lauder c4hrs
This event has been ongoing for several years now. It is the 50th running of the BVAC Classic this year. I think it would be great to get our foot in the door and try to make this an annual event for us all.
Any questions pleas just ask. Hopefully a poll exists which may help gauge numbers.
