V6 Ph1 Clubsport

Those of you following the shed-thread will know that I have constructed a perfectly insulated shed for storage (hoarding) of parts.

At the beginning of the 2017, I collected a spare Trophy Splitter from down the west country.
This was a great acquisition but was trumped by two big finds this year...

The first 'big win' was securing James' rear undertray. James was very kind in bringing this item to Silverstone Classic.

Sadly, the two components that got fried in the track day fire were the undertray and inner engine covers.

James' undertray was sooo perfect it's going straight towards the Ph2 Acid underside rejuvenations that I've planned in Spring 2018.

The AY cast-off will be donated to the Ph1 restoration.

The second 'big win' was a tip-off from Russo that there were some Clio race car Carbon Fibre mirrors available on eBay.

These were 'buyer collects' in Warrington. Fortunately, Chris V6 255 lived in the vicinity and kindly offered to collect.

These need a little TLC but they're incredibly light!

Glad they made it to you safe & sound.
I couldn't believe how light they were!

Incredibly light! These have gone from a 'maybe?' to a 'must have!' element of this project. Not sure whether the base stays as Glossed CF or painted in Iceberg...

It was great to meet up with Geraint at Silverstone Classic... his V6 Trophy converted to a RHD road-registered rally car was a real show stopper.

It enlightened me to the three ways to get a V6 Trophyesque on the road:

1) V6 Trophy Racer conversion
or
2) Clio Rolling shell rebuild using correct Racer parts
or
3) V6 Clio Road car adaptation

Different ways to skin a cat!!!

With reference to Silverstone Classic - their programme does entertain 'one-off' anniversary races for one-make series - which means that if a dozen of us can acquire some V6 Trophy racers - it's on for 2024!!!

Trouble is the following instalment would be 2049 - and I'll be 78yrs (or 6' under!)

Nice find!
I'd vote keep it glossed CF mate. They look much better 'OEM'.

That would be some sight!
There are probably enough in the U.K. already, but not many in circuit racing set up. However, with some organising you could arrange for some continental owners to travel over. I'm sure there would be a handful that would be up for it.

The mirrors look ace, and I too would vote to keep the base glossed carbon fibre.

Indeed, would be great to see a few V6 Trophys banging doors around the Silverstone F1 circuit.

Keep em OEM gloss cf, once you paint them you have made an irreversible commitment, if you want them silver just have them wrapped by someone who knows what they are doing so it can be readily undone :approve:

Long time since last post but there were a couple of ‘additional items’ on my wish list that I’ve recently acquired.

First and foremost, I needed new inner engine covers (which SG could supply) but I’d subsequently bought off Mark K.

Secondly, the new Sabelt RS steering wheel is black and therefore matches my proposed interior colour scheme. I’ve acquired one to give me options...

The Acid is now in permanent Hibernation until this project is completed. SG has been instructed to commence on the mechanicals...

Whilst I’m updating this thread...

The front bumper had the central section removed. I quite like the look - however, it makes the tow eye cut into the chicken-wire mesh obvious.

The bullet hole is a little irritating. I have bought a replacement bumper but have also bought an Clio cup racer tow hook. These used to be really easy to acquire but are now very difficult to find...

At the moment, I think the tow hook will work well.

I also have one of these little numbers ready for installation:
Quaife ATB Helical LSD Differential

I’m aware that there’s a risk that circa 300bhp and and LSD will make mincemeat of the gearbox. However, everything that I’m procrastinating is for the sake of driver appeal...

Good find Kett, I've been looking for the towing eye for some time but they seem very popular with the ClioSport members!!!!
If you decide to go with the new bumper I'm sure I could take it off your hands ;)
