V6 Ph1 Clubsport

Ok, I could do with some audience participation here. This part was advertised as 'Clio steering column cover'. Is the part correct for Ph1 V6?

Bought for £5, so it won't be an expensive mistake if not...

Next step is open for discussion too. Scott remarked that my steering wheel was not ideal.

And to be fair it felt as 'slippery as an eel basted in KY Jelly' during the Goodwood track day.

So I put these on the Xmas list:

However, Scott's comments caused me to hastily purchase this from Oli:

Bald as a coot and in desperate need of a re-trim.

Decisions, decisions,decisions...

Looks a little different to mine, the most obvious difference being mine has a flat face behind the steering wheel and where the radio stalk is located.

I see that Ed! Looks more like a Ph2 component...

(Cue for James to post up some technical pics...)

Am I the only person who glances at this thread title and sometimes think it says 'Cliosport'... Arrrrghhhh!!!

8200 053 295 is a PH2 top cowling £32.00
8200 053 296 is a PH2 lower cowling £46.00

PH1 is 82 00 086 204 (previously 77 00 413 079) and 77 00 412 817

:)

Great project to have Kett and loving the write up, definitely following the progress with interest
Like it's been mentioned in the past we should all have a second v6 to play around with and hope to join the club soon ;)

Mr Russo - we look forward to hearing about your progress.
: )

Many of you would have seen Nathan's Ph1 'Trophy-inspired' road car on Facebook.

It's a good example of where these projects can alternatively be taken.

Back to the steering wheel conundrum...

Coincidentally, I posted up some images of Lancia Delta interiors in my 10 year anniversary thread.
The steering wheels have a certain likeness to the MOMO fitted in V6TPY:

Anyway, it's given me some resolve to retain that wheel.

Russo has inspired me to give a 'limp wristed' update...

Firstly, Vee ownership is most compelling - all parts are readily available at a premium - but bargains do present themselves in due course for the patient purveyor.

Signing up to cliosport.net to find some cheap Ph1 parts is not for the faint hearted... I found plenty of bits but ended up buying absolutely nothing!

Ebay rules and feedback means that items are far more easily bought on there.

A Ph1 steering column cowl was bought with little effort... this was after several unanswered PM on cliosport.nitwits
