Trackday Helmets

Can anyone make any recommendations as to a good type of helmet for trackdays?

ie, full-face? open at the front?

Can I get a motorcycle helmet as they appear to me a lot cheaper than car helmets, or do they rely on the open-ness of a bike in order to stay ventilated?

Cheers,
Phil.

Phil,

I use a motorcycle helmet and remove the visor. That's because I am too tight to buy another one for trackdays and I have only done one in the last year anyway.

It may be worth keeping an eye out for Aldi/Lidl as they had offers on helmets some weeks back that were open face and ideal for trackdays plus they were not silly money.

Thats fantastic, buying a crash helmet at the supermarket, who would have thought!! You could go for a budget version and hollow out a marrow, they are on the veg isle.

use ebay. i got a shoie full face for only £15.00. As its unlikely to be neaded for crashing (only by the track day organisers) it seems a waste to spend a lot. :thumb

The helmets at the supermarket were a recognised brand. I will do a search and try and post the link.
