The Film I have just watched...

Watched Bill & Ted Face the Music Last night:

I would imagine that anyone who watched the original ones in their youth when they felt some affinity with the Bill & Ted Characters would have a watch of this film... like me.

Unfortunately neither they or the storyline seems to have moved anywhere in the last 20 years or so....

it’s certainly not one of Station’s most bodacious creations...

5 dooooooooooods our of 10.

I've watched quite a few films recently and most of them have been pretty lame to be honest.

9

Nice animation but not a huge amount else going for it really. Just lots of random interactions and luck leading to - well, nowhere that I could really see!
5 / 10

Escape Plan 2 & 3

I quite enjoyed the premise of the 1st one. Different enough to be entertaining. These two sadly fall well short and are just action films trying to cash in on the first film with naff all plot or character development.
4 / 10 for both.

Filth

Having tried to read the book and failed I thought I'd give the film a go. James McAvoy absolute nails it and definitely steals the film. Very well done and enjoyable to watch the downward spiral.
7 / 10

Eddie The Eagle

This is a tricky one. If it was a "feel good" film about a random guy then you'd put it down as a cheesy film but nicely done. However, since it's meant to be a biopic, I was so disappointed that it has hardly anything from his real life in it at all. Set in a different country with a different coach and not sure how much is real or made up I felt pretty let down. So much so that I now refuse to watch any biopic and deleted Rocketman & Bohemian Rhapsody.
4/10

John Wick Chapter 3 - Parabellum

Just a lot of violence to mostly maintain the status quo and set up a fourth film really! Quite good as background noise since there's not much of a plot at all.
5/10

The Fly

Now - I'm not normally one for horror films so wasn't quite sure how this would play out. Turns out I really enjoyed it. Jeff Goldblum was absolutely brilliant as the lead character and it was a rather nice look at the unintended consequences of playing with science when you don't understand it.
7/10

Armstrong

This is what prompted me to write this catch up. If you get a chance to watch this film it is amazing. Basically a good look at the life of Neil Armstrong with a lot of period footage, family interviews and interviews with other astronauts & pilots. Thankfully it doesn't leave out the bad sides of what went on and has some absolutely stunning period film in it as well. Harrison Ford is also spot on for doing the "narration" of Neil Armstrong's words.
Interestingly, no inclusion of Buzz Aldrin but there is a lot of Michael Collins.

9/10

I was a fan of the old ones. This was absolute SHITE. Rehashed story from the first one, badly. Poorly acted, felt forced. Very disappointed, 2/10.

Film releases have been a bit shit lately cos of all the delayed releases. No Bond, no Top Gun 2...

I watched Ava the other night. Meh - time filler, nothing special. Passed the time while I had a break from binging TV series. 5/10

I think the last good movie that came out was The Gentlemen.

Apollo 11

This is a must see for anyone who has at least a passing interest in the moon missions. The whole film is purely archive footage and audio (a lot of it previously unseen / unheard) with a few simple but well done animations to explain the various stages of the flight. There is some simply stunning footage and the music is made using instruments available at the time of the flight and really adds some nice background. What this must have looked like in IMAX I can only imagine!

This is a tricky one to rate. I would give it 10/10 - it's just such a stunning set of archival film that it really warrants a view.

Downloaded Crank on Netflix for the flight home from holiday:

Oh My God... CRANK..? More like WANK! Was nearly physically sick of how bad this film was. I know that Jason Statham is not exactly the last word when it comes to great actors, but I liked him in the Hobbs & Shaw movie. This one however was HORIFFIC!

1/10

Such a cheesy, brain out, over the top, stupid film. If you go in expecting any sort of plot or acting then you'll be sorely disappointed but it's quite funny brain-out doss if you have no expectations.
CRANK 2 on the other hand - that was really awful!

watched bill and Ted last night. OK as a background cheese fest film. though its more a channel 5 production film and should be shown on terrestrial TV. 4/10

Watched tenet this morning. omg such an awesome mind bendling film like Nolans others. Will be watching it again very soon. maybe this evening lol. 9/10 might go rewatch some others for the brain twisting.

Looking forward to this one, likewise Bond and Top Gun 2.

I just got a new TV for the first time since 2010, and though I still rate my beloved 50" Panasonic Plasma (now retired to my bedroom) the absolute behemoth UHD Samsung thats replaced it is quite something to behold at 75". These movies should look flipping ace.

I am a staunch Panasonic fan but the Samsung (which I would rank 2nd as a brand behind a Panny) was too much of a bargain to turn down, brand new with a 5yr warranty. I fired up the 42" I took out of my room next to it and it looks like a goddamn postage stamp.

Bloodshot with Vin Diesel = dog shit 😒

Currently watching the Daniel Craig James Bond films, I love a good opening scene, sets the film up nicely 👌🏼
