The Film I have just watched...

4 John out of 10 Rambos

VERY generous. Terrible film.

Maleficent 2 (watched with the kids obvs) - A bit odd....it started as a sickly sweet Disney fairytale thing, to the point I was gonna turn it off as my 12 & 14 yo were eye-rolling but the Mrs 9 yo was watching it, I mean proper young kids Disney vomit, but then all of a sudden it took a bit of a turn and the middle of the film was actually pretty dark and would have scared young children quite badly. In one scene an evil pixie pours this powder over a fairy thing and kills it, straight up murder. Quite a lot of violence and death (but no blood or gore) in the end battle. Then the end was back to sickly Disney vomit again. Angelina Jolie plays the character very well, the accent, expressions and mannerisms are very good. Michelle Pfieffer did well as the Queen, she defo made you hate her a bit like Cersei out of GOT.

8/10 if you're with kids.
Pedo/10 if you're not :)

The first was pretty dark. I caught it playing away while kids were charging about.

Terminator: Dark Fate.

Big Terminator fan here, so I may be biased, but I loved it. Brain out, popcorn ready, killer robots sent from the future to change the past. I think they tried to recapture T2 here; and though they didn't quite get there you can see they tried.

I would have liked it to have rolled the first scene out a bit more with
the murder of the young John Connor
, that was far too quick and deserved more time i think.

"Karl" I found hilarious.

I like the way they advanced the terminator, we went from the T800 metal skeleton with living tissue over it, to the T1000 liquid metal, to the Rev-9 that has both the carbon endoskeleton and liquid metal. I particularly like the way I never saw him blink, he pulls off that very unnatural feel to the character - this harks back to T1 when Arnie put a lot of time and effort into making himself not flinch when shooting the guns to give that robot like feel (and it worked). I also like the way when it was playing a cover character it was very convincing (if you imagine it's a chunk of tech under there, not an actor).

I want to give it an 8, but will give it a 7/10 by comparison if you were to rate T1 as a 9/10 and T2 as a 10/10 - because T2 is a 10/10 and anyone that doesnt agree is wrong :)

Dark Waters (starring Mark Ruffalo, aka, The Hulk)
"A corporate defense attorney takes on an environmental lawsuit against a chemical company that exposes a lengthy history of pollution."
What is absolutely horrifying about this is the truth of it. This *really* happened. I can't believe I had never heard of this scandal. Ruffalo is very good, and keeps you on board in what could have been a pretty drab and boring film.
You need to see this just so you know about it. 8/10.

...not a film but on account of the fact that it's 3x90min episodes it's as near as it gets.

BBC Dracula, superb.

Treadstone on Amazon Prime is not, it's utter tosh. Bad acting, bad stunts and a Vauxhall Insignia used for a car chase.

Avoid.

Crown Vic - "One night in the life of veteran patrol officer Ray Mandel and his trainee, ambitious rookie cop Nick Holland in the LAPD's Olympic Division. With two cop killers on the loose and hunting for more targets, Mandel and Holland must contend with a city about to boil over, as well as Jack VanZandt, an unhinged rogue cop out for payback running wild in their patrol zone. "

Nothing special, found some parts a bit slow, it'll kill a couple of hours. Was hoping for more...however the rogue cop played by VanZandt was a disturbing nutcase. Quite enjoyed that part. 6/10.

1917 - i'm sure you've all heard of it by now.

Well..... wow. Just wow. It was *fantastic*. The story is good, the acting is great, the effects, scenery and props are very realistic - everything is spot on. But then the way it was filmed, in the long, continuous shots with one camera and no cuts was just phenomenal.

Even if you don't like war films, it's worth a watch for the cinematography alone. 9.76/10 - watch it! Preferably with surround and a sub that really punches out the explosions :)

Thought this thread would be banging right now, due to everyone rattling round house.....here's one I watched last night

Ford v's Ferrari
Sometimes I forget why I like cars ( and bikes ) so much, garage full of tat, etc

I won't go into film too much, but I enjoyed it a lot, not a levitating pensioner or half man, half beast electric fire firing superhero in sight....

Proper gnarly - those trenches just went on forever - massive respect to those who served. And really well portrayed I imagine.

German pilot = cunt.

Just saying

Loved it - so funny with the timing watches etc - really captured the 'British' ethos at hard times of how big risks were taken on a wing and a prayer. And we've all been on track and can relate to how when we assume that something so wonderful produced by the top £££ companies can still be held together by gaffer tape lol - truly inspiring. Sits there next to FF1, The worlds Fastest Indian, Senna and Rush.

Bad Boys for life.

Exactly what you expect, WIll Smith trying to be cool, Martin Lawrence trying not to look fat/old, everyone doing the exact same thing as the other two movies. 6/10 at best but you know you'll watch it just because the first one was amazing. I still hold a thing for Tea Leoni from that first film!

Uninteresting fact: The first time I watched Bay Bays it was on laserdisc - I feel so old!

Bloodshot (Vin Diesel).

Copy/Paste Diesel film, it's xXx all over again with invincibility - although they did TRY and add a bit of a story/plot twist it actually seems like an afterthought on the cool concept of nanotech and special effects bonanza. Also 6/10 as the effects were on point.

Bad Boys for Life - regurgitated shit but its the good regurgitated shit we need right now. Made me smile lots but I'm Michael Bay'd out.

IP Man 1, 2, 3 and 4 - get them watched, top drawer cinema. Once you've watched them, then read about Master IP. Don't do it the other way.

Beats - I love Hip-Hop but this was drivel

Spenser Confidential - marvellous Wahlberg action, I love Alan Arkin too

Instant Family - had me laughing and had me choked, based on the real life story of the director.

Triple Threat - avoid at all costs

Villain - very surprised by this. Well worth a watch.

Hereditary - fucked up family horror. Some very dark bits. I liked it.

Knives Out - watched it a few weeksago. A very good filum indeed, Craig's accent gave me the hump, its still going round in my head.
