5 GT Turbo The Bogey

It was a std (roflol) no honestly.....

It was a std bore and stroke built by sav Sacco! Built to slightly better than 210cv! Had a tdc cam, 6.x:1 comp, 4to1 exhaust manifold but turbo is std location. Charge cooler and efi

It had been converted before I got it by a so called tuning company! Never ran right, so 12 months with Dr Glen @ Dynotech and a phone call of it runs so much advance I keep running out of fuel! It's a monster.......

@rogerreno @stu21t will tell you how quick it was when let off the lead!!! (Had a rather quick play with a very fast m3!!) It made it to the 20th birthday of the gtt in France 10 years ago and even with a small mishap...... Did 31mpg!!!!

Just a shame that a) I sold it and b) the next people to play with it had no idea to how to tune a low comp engine! It lost it mojo and you could hear how lazy it sounded in all videos that got posted of it

Thanks fella....you are giving me some good ideas & confidence enough to put the order in with Scoff.....love the idea of being able to get 31 mpg :)

Did you do anything with the turbo pls?

It was some hybrid but what spec I can't remember!!!!!!!!!!! @DaveL485

;-)

I do remember that the std turbo crapped itself at 320hp! Snapped the shaft and threw the exhaust blades on a wild ride down the exhaust , through the exhaust suck out pipe and into the wall behind it! Think Glen left he hole in the wall for years!
Right where's my cocanie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bizarre advisory.

Yes the guy was honest about it - "got to test these old cars with a bit of sympathy!". Dude in Byker (Byker Byker Grove) in Geordieland. And "what have you done with the back seats btw?" :) f$$$$$$ s$$$ me off they were there yesterday.....!

Right where were we....this happened (car stolen):

Then this happened (car recovered & sent off for a bit of work):

i1322.photobucket.com_albums_u565_jamesy12345_230920152305_zps23dzo9jd.webp

& that is just about up to date :) I wasn't happy with the oil pressure after getting the car back, so decided on a proper rebuild. Then decided on a new engine instead - a 210 CV build. Pics to follow.....

Is there an echo in here? :)

Genuinely gutted for you. If you need anything doing in UK give me a shout. \n\nTrying to get it across UK on facebook. No promises but I hope it helps.

fatroofer said:
Absolutely gutted for you mate!! Some real scum out there!!! Are you on retro rides? If so then post it on there as it\'s a huge site! Good luck mate

adey said:
hit all the fb groups for you, sounds almost organised. fingers crossed it gets found.
just dropped it on retro rides too. \n to help, what was the reg and location it was taken from

jamesy12345 said:
Great guys thanks. I\'m not on Retro Rides so much appreciated. The car was insured but I don\'t want the money - it took me 15 years to find this car, I will pay 5k pounds for any info the leads to the return of the car\n \nReg is A857 XGJ. Alarm went off at storage unit at 19:00-19: 30 last night, from Sadberge near Darlington, County Durham, postcode DL2 1TD

Chris Smith said:
Gutted for you. Hope you get it returned safely.

jamesy12345 said:
Thanks for the kind words but that is unlikely fella - there was 4 cars taken from the same place (2 of them mine), they had to get through a wall to get in. I don't think it's being used for ram raiding a sweet shop as we speak...!

Scott_higgy said:
Shared for you mate. hope you get it back

Mart said:
FFS :( Sorry to read that mate. Fingers crossed you get it back in one piece. Jesus, you can't have anything nice in this country without some c*nt either wanting to nick it, or damage it out of jealousy

PaulyVenturi said:
I will speak to a contact in France for you as this car is prob already out of the country by now!! The market for them on the water is very big! I fit trackers on cars for a living and car theft is a big problem again!! Classics need tracking as they are easy to steal! The Lancia boys are having the same problems at the mo!!Really hope it gets found as this is terrible news.

Ive got a pal who based in France searches for rare and wonderful Renault parts for UK customers. I'll send him the link now. Some real slags out there eh?

DaveL485 said:
Ive hit social media with it too, stuck it on twitter and tagged Chris Harris and Paul Garlick (ex PH editor) in the hope they retweet it. Utter scum. I hope you find them and burn them alive.

Guys I really really appreciate this The black Suzuki spotted will have been the supercharged Swift that also lived in the same garage. @Scott_higgy, I will pass that information on to the people investigating, thanks very much

Car has been spotted on camera around South Bank, Middlesbrough. Coulthard Court has been mentioned

Southbank is consistent with the lads statement of A66 heading to redcar. hope they get them

DaveL485 said:
Its out there mate, lots of eyes looking, its been retweeted by evo magazine and Harry Metcalfe now as well as loads of others. \n \nWhen was it spotted by the cops? Is this last night, after it was taken or is there a time gap suggesting theyre still boosting it about?

Brigsy said:
Fuck me thats about 2 mins away from my house been past there a few times today. Been stuck on 2g reception so had no alerts or nothing off here. Has the car been recovered now? I have been doing a bit of diggin today and sharing on facebook and have been told it has been found? Hopefully in one piece fingers crossed

Adey said:
Be great if it has been

jamesy12345 said:
'Cheers lads, nothing so far. Had a \'wake\' for the car last night - caned a bottle of (french) vodka last night with my drinking buddy, who is a biker so understands the loss of a nice machine. Didn\'t find it in there either>>!\n \nI spoke to the manager of the storage place late yesterday and the information about South Bank came from the police, saying \'the cars\' had been seen on the A66 late Friday night, then Southbank on Saturday day time. She didn\'t know a specific time. They seemed to be talking more about the Swift though. I don\'t want to be pessimistic but if the car was targeted then it will probably disappear.\n \nThere\'s two ways it can go now - either the car is off to Europe whole or in bits, ....or I\'ll get a phone call about a puddle of melted plastic/twisted metal somewhere...\n \n@DaveL485, there was a time gap mate, giving some hope but...waiting for phonecall as above....great to know that the likes of Evo mag can pass on the message. The more people that know the better at this point.\n \n@Brigsy, the information about Southbank might be BS or about the other cars only, but pls keep an eye out if you can

ChrisGTT said:
'I've just seen a share on Facebook and it says the turbo 2 is now recovered ?

jamesy12345 said:
News to me mate, any links? //edit, Confirmed! Car has been recovered!!!! No idea what shape it is in, don't care at this point. Maybe they realised it had minilites on instead of proper metric alloys & decided it was worth fuck all ;)

Chris Smith said:
I hope you get it back in 1 piece and not ragged the shit out of it.

Brigsy said:
The swift has been found on another quiet road in the area. The area is quiet where that is James - looks like both have been stashed out of the way to see if any trackers are fitted etc

jamesy12345 said:
The Swift is not mine mate but I will pass that information on, thanks for that. Hopefully there is a RVF 400 NC35 down there also...that is mine (or was)

DaveL485 said:
They had trackers alright...."The Internet"! Really pleased the T2 and Swift have been found mate, if there is any negative fallout from the theft then it's nothing some spanners can't fix which is a billion times better than finding a burned wreck or even worse the cars being chopshopped and vanishing. Im am amazed in the best way possible how this has worked out

jamesy12345 said:
No comment from me on trackers but yes exactly I think the net played a big part.\n \nVery true, Dave - unless they have bumped it then the only thing that can hurt really is the turbo, which was due a rebuild/change out anyway. ANyway don\'t want to get ahead of myself yet...need to see it in the flesh

jamesy12345 said:
Cheers again & again for all support guys, what a weekend!\n \nJust spoke to the police, they have the car and will be checking it out I guess, then I can pick it up :D result!\n \nThe guys who did it? Zero chance of catching them. Since the haven\'t damaged the car I can\'t say I am very pissed off about it. Hope they enjoyed it www.vpcuk.org_forums_images_smilies_smile.webp to drive it across the A66 full chat, as if all the demons in hell are after you....which it sounds like.....is some experience.\n \nPicture of the week, love that comment:\ni1322.photobucket.com_albums_u565_jamesy12345_11934951_10204933b302927e8e0a3671a80791952851734.webp\n \n@DaveL485, I think that turbo will come in handy now..!\n \n@Mart, thanks for that, much appreciated. I\'ve got a couple of locations in mind but will let you know if I need somewhere.

Can you spray it green? I only say this because I keep thinking it is, then I see a picture, say to myself it's blue followed by oh yeah, every time ☺️

It's a shame all the hard work and tracking that went into getting it back has disappeared, it really showed what the club is all about .
