The 1957 Dope Dauphine

Ok so I don't want to condemn it just yet, this morning I've been outside and flushed the cooling system with some water and washing up liquid lol. Strangely the water that was flowing out was only a tiny bit dirty like you would expect. No oil or sludge from the bottom the rad or the head? I've left it in there to sit for a few hours and I will flush it some more later on. I should also be picking up a compression tester so i can check that too20200307_081256.webp20200307_081304.webp

Have u tried posting on the Renault classic forum.

A 8 box with swing arms and cross member should be easy to find.
Yep have a wanted up on there and have asked all the normal people. I have 2 more people to try and contact and see if they have one

Went out to set the timing, quick dribble of fuel down the carb and shes away on the 6v with relative ease.

soon realised I didnt know what I was doing.... couldn't find the timing marks on the flywheel, hmmm, there are what looks to be some on the crank pulley though but packed it all in as it was raining and to go double check what I was faffing about at.

Water pump is definitely leaking so on the hunt for a rebuild kit for it, or a cheap one but they seem to be super expensive currently.

Timing mark is a notch on pulley and a pointer on timing chain cover, autobretagne probs cheapest for pump kit, but think post is 20 euro min, so best bundle an order when you need more

there were 2 marks on the pulley too so i will lift number 1 piston to tdc and highlight the one that lines up.

ill take a look at the website too cheers, could do with a few other seals and gaskets too so can order a few things at the same time (y) just want to sort the leak, set the timing and start putting some miles on her

I've got plenty of gaskets , or I can knock you some up from patterns if you struggle or they want twentyhundredity euros for feck all

cheers, much appreciated. This looks to be leaking from the shaft itself as the water is coming out from the inside of the fan pulley.

ordered a few gaskets and a water pump rebuild kit, coming from the motherland so not sure when I'll get it. Still need to go finish setting the timing up when I get a spare 10 min.
