So I just checked Ebay...

The T.I.B.

is rarely serious
Two renault 19s. Two. A yellow RSi convertible and a convertible with auto box.

Sad times - I remember trawling through pages of R19s when I was buying my first 16v!

No doubt nearly all have succumbed to le rust.

It is sad but I dont think it is all down to rust. There seems to be little demand for 19s at the moment. If people dont sell them they either break them or scrap them. There have been a few people on here over the last year or so that have struggled to sell their cars.

Thing is that the UK has an amazing second hand car market. If you have £1000 to spend on a car you can buy something much newer (and possibly more reliable ;)) than a 19.

Sad times.

You've also got to think what sort of person wants a r19 nowadays? I would wager most of the owners on here were old enough to own one when the car was current. Now most, 16v's especially, will be toys or projects. Also you need to consider there's no money in restoring old renaults. It's the same for gt turbos, you see mint ones on eBay for £3k+ but nobody will pay that for something they see would be an occasional use car. So another good example gets broken to help people like me restore a nit so mint example!
Hang on to it, sell cheap and take it on the chin or sell in bits. That's your options and old cars seem to be worth more in bits these days.
