Clio Big Steve’s Clio Williams 2 (World Cup Williams) 🌍

Had a few weeks off this car as I’ve been concentrating on the 11 Turbo, but got back onto it today.

Got the interior out ready for the welding, transferring it from here:

To here:

Pulled it all out ok, and was left with a clean slate:

Found a couple of spots that were obviously causing issues… one of the body bungs were missing, so water was free to enter:

And the rust on the sills, was starting to show its face on the near side:

Hoping to get it to the welder man soon!!

There’s only one way now, and that’s it’s going get the full treatment, you can’t help yourself.
The raider and 11 watching…..

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Love it..!!

No I don’t want to chase the Minty OE monster with this Williams. There’s already SOOOOO many people rebuilding Williams’s now that NONE of them are actually getting used or driven anymore.

My plan is still:
  • Get the welding done to get it solid
  • Go thru the Engine Bay and subframe to get that all looking nice as well.
  • Engine will then get one of my tart ups.
  • Body and engine bay repainted.
  • Then fit the little upgrades I’ve got planned
  • PPF coat the bonnet and bumper
  • Drive it to Monthlery for Losange Passion International 2024!

Totally agree with you Get it out and use it
Is Mark doing the welding?
Repaired so many back in the day
They unpick really well . Wire brush in the grinder to take off the sealer 3m stuff back on you can get the factory look , might have a spray booth coming up and a half decent painter on hand ,

I’m not mate. Far too much on at the moment to take on another resto. Would’ve been nice though.

VERY interested in this should it come to pass… from the 11 Resto I know car painters are a FOOKIN NIGHTMARE 😱 to try & find, so anyone who we know within the club that can come with a recommendation, is great for me!!! 👌👌👌👌

Got a recommendation of a chap in Hull for the Welding, and paid a deposit to book a space in July. Hoping it should go to him soon..??

I’m heading back down this route, there’s nobody doing these days looking to build up while still on the construction , done a few tractors lately now need to proof myself back on the cars ,
I will keep you posted

It’s in for Rear arches, sills, and jacking points both sides, and hoping I can get it back in a couple of months..?

Following a bit of thought, and a good chat with @Brigsy at Retro Rides Gathering 2023 last weekend, I think I fancy going a bit silly with the engine on this car, and installing standalone engine management, which would be capable of correctly running any turbo/supercharging plans I may have in the future…?

Definitely made my mind up this car is not going to be a bone stock OE garage queen, I want to actually use it, and give it some stick around tracks etc!! Like the idea of bucking the collector crew with it this time..!! 😈

Thanks for stopping by!!

fair enough its your car have it how you like it as you are the one who will drive it! Anyway go large or go home!!

Few things. What did the Iveco drive like , considering one for the firm
Drove a 240 hp N/A car made from 16v not a willy. An absolute cracker with a diff
Butt massive money to build
Not sure on the turbo or supper charger unless you go for both lol
Think there’s a lad got that set up in a maxi using the 16v lump

Honestly wasn’t impressed with the Iveco mate!! 2nd gear was a cow-bag to get into sometimes, and I didn’t find if comfortable for the 3.5 hours I was driving it that day..!! Couldn’t get the seat back enough, but the Vauxhall Movano they had before was just great, even with 250k miles!!

From what I’ve experienced with Ivecos, they drive like a transit, which drive like a focus, maybe it just seems that way because they all had the same interior, you’re obviously aware of the extra height, length and weight but you have to be otherwise you’d hit stuff.
I didn’t mind the driving position, probably because the seat went far enough forward so I could teach the pedals.
I’d agree the gearbox caused a few grinds, I kept getting reverse instead of 1st, gave up and pulled off in 2nd as it has enough grunt. Maybe the gearbox and seating would be ok for someone whose height is between mine and Steve.

Movano is just a traffic with the wrong badges, probably why you preferred it over the ford 🤣

Random post but couldn’t resist. I’ve had a couple of iveco’s, they are work horses pure and simple, the best for pulling weight. If you are a heavy user they are the best option, not the most comfortable. Transits are comfortable and like a normal van which drives more like a car nowadays. Only buy an Iveco if you are pulling a lot of weight all the time and they are the best. Not for comfort though. An iveco will drive just as fast with a full load as when it’s empty they are that good at it.

Oh and just pull off in second every time, you only need to use 1st when carrying heavy weight.

Sorry for the hijack, love what you’re doing with this Williams Steve, I’ve been having very similar shenanigans with my Williams powered valver over over the last few years.

As you were…

Thanks for the feed back boys , last comment here then I will start a van and Towing thread . Ran sprinters built to tow. 3500 kg and GTW of 7000 but has to be factory order and nearly 45k now so looking at other options.
Sat in the sprinter 4 hours solid , got out of it like I’d done 10 minutes. Just have to get my wallet out
