Tiny Tim

So why is it all car part manufacturers hate the 21?

I've spent all morning looking into aftermarket shocks for my 21 and all i've found are:

Avo springs -35mm ?52
Spax springs -40mm ?58

I know the likes of BB Tuning and Prima sell springs, but im guessing they are the above ones.

Does anyone have any info on aftermarket shocks for the 21? What did the Europa cars use?

Tim....Europa Cup cars used coilovers as AFAIK!!!

If theres enough interest I'll look into adapting or having made coilovers to fit the 21T through my new company!

Ive got Prima springs

But who they are made by I dont know! There are NO aftermarket shox available for the 21 available now the only shox that fitted the car were some koni's of which i posess the rear's. The standard shocks are group N available from Renault, alas no longer avilable from Euro car parts :? :( besides try them with uprated springs the rides plenty firm enough

Sounds good Lee

Cheers Si, what would you recommend though? What do people generally go for? 35mm or 40mm? I've got a few medium size speed humps round my way, i dont want to make the ride unbearable (this coming from an ex gt turbo owner whos car was on THE FLOOR) lol

LOL your getting Older Timmy

well my car is lowered at theb front by about 40 mm i think I have plenty plenty speed bumps where i live I have koni rear shocks without assister springs which in effect lowers the rear of the car Ive got a singlebox 2 1/2" scorpion system on her and i dont have any problems with speed humps of any nature! The springs have helped the handling it feels very much more sure footed on the road, however you dont get sumink for nothing the ride is quite a lot firmer!

Ps Lee your answer wasn't there when i posted LOL

Lee as i understand it the coilovers were quite different possibly in suspention geometry. I spoke with Jo in Belgium and he has cup suspension and he reckons that the cup suspension is ok for track but not suitable for the road due to its very twitchy nature. I dont know anything more about it other than that TBH.

Although if a coilover could be produced that would allow at least an 8" rim to be fitted that would be sexy indeed.

does an anorak know anything more in detail on the cup suspension?

si

Well, i was speaking to Dave G earlier, he said they were DeCarbon coilovers, which, unfortunately will be as common as rocking horse poo

Shocking

Leda, Avo, Spax etc etc etc all do a re-valving service. I think from Leda it works out to approx ?110 per leg - but that was given to me about 3years ago.

My car is considered low mate, and even with the Evo Bumper and a 35-40mm drop all round, I have no problems with speed bumps of any kind - well except the table top full road width ones.

My real problem is garage forecourts - just cant get in em lol
