Megane Ricardo's Budget Track 225

Ok so it's been a week or so since i've had the chance to do anything with the Megane. The OMP brackets FINALLY arrived this week, nice of the company I ordered them from that they were coming from Poland via Germany and not their workplace in Nottingham.... Anyway, they're here.

I've also spent the last 3 days ordering the brake parts. Rear discs, pads and hub bolts are coming from Renault parts direct, the front Brembo HC discs from Amazon, tomorrow i'll order the DS2500 front pads from George RTR. I've also ordered a black 4 point Sabelt harness 3" waist and shoulder straps to match the seat.IMG_3188.webp IMG_3190.webp IMG_3192.webp IMG_3194.webp

Today I had a free day to do some work, I made a few cruise brackets that were ordered then I set to work on the front seat fitting. I knew that the brackets were going to be close to the OE bolt hole dimension, I ordered them especially to give me plenty of height and front to back bolting options. With the brackets fitted the centre holes were almost, like 5mm out on the width centres. The fronts would line up but the rears would be need drilling out..... No biggy. BUT when I dropped the seat into place and shut the door the side of the seat was hitting the door card. I want to keep the door cards in so I had to think of a way to move the seat nearer to the arm rest. Aaaaah, switch the bracket round so the foot sits on the inside. Excellent, the door now shuts, but now it's thrown the centres out on the holes.... Anyway, the end result is a mock up with timber to line everything up and it works out I have to weld 2 metal bracket extenders on the outer bracket to pick up the OE bolt holes. We use a steel fabricating company at work so i'll take the bracket in to be welded.

One question I did want to ask which is regarding harness points. I can use an eye bolt on the outer side where the seatbelt bolt is, the rear is the same using eye bolts screwed into rear seatbelt clip position.

I've seen these, I could bolt it to the inner seat mount bracket but where an I buy them?schroth-dogbone-clip-endfit.webp

[Didn't realise you'd found them already silly me lol]
You've not been hanging about here at all mate - great work, this car is practically ready! :D

I've seen what you've posted above a couple of times, but can't seem to find it myself...

This is the other potential solution - but you'd need to weld it to the side mount....its nice and cheap, and designed for the job.

Our mates at JJC again:

Will be speaking to JJC today, quick question, apart from the price. What's the difference between the Brembo pins supplied by TR and the OE items? Also are they in TR stock and how long is the delivery time?

Thank you

I can get them out to you tomorrow @Ricardo
We resell for Mr Pink and his pins are far , far more substantial and use r pins instead so they dont weld themselves to the caliper !

So this week there's going to be a flurry of deliveries in preparation for Saturdays work. Pins for the Brembo calipers are ordered from the TR stockpile, a big thumbs up to Andy. Came home from work to this little lot from Renault parts direct, again a big thank you to them. UPS courier, £4 delivery charge and arrived after ordering Thursday-Friday, top effort. Run out of time ordering the DS front pads but know if I do it tomorrow I should still have them before the weekend. Fingers crossed that's new brakes all round sorted.

Hopefully the harness, harness clip will also arrive this week too. I still need to squeeze in some time after work to have the new bits welded on the seat brackets.IMG_3201.webp IMG_3203.webp IMG_3200.webp

Had an early finish at work so I popped in to a company who make all our RSJ steels and fabrication for the new build houses we make. I took the OMP bracket in to have them weld extender plates on the outer bracket to pick up the OE bolt holes. They've welded 6mm steel plate to the bracket which is almost double the thickness so it's not going anywhere in a hurry, all I have to do is primer, paint, then drill the holes.

The postman's also been busy today too. Black Sabelt 4 point harness and the Schroth clips to bolt to the side of the side mount bracket on the bucket seat. I've bought 2 for forward planning on a passenger bucket seat, we'll see.
