Megane Ricardo's Budget Track 225

Bolts ordered, so that's the steering wheel, boss, bolts, momentary switches and have ordered 2mm carbon A5 size so at some point I'll start to make the bracket for the cruise setup.

I can't imagine there's many Megane 225s out there with an aftermarket steering wheel fitted with cruise.

no pics i can find of the rear sorry ric, but i soldered the wires on at 90 degrees to the switch and heat shrank them so they were tight to the mounting plate as could be then disappeared into the boss.

All the steering wheel parts arrived in the post yesterday so hopefully I'll have it resembling something half decent. I assume it's 4 wires from the switches crudely just connecting to the 4 momentary switches. I'm not electronically minded so I'm hoping my brother can wield the soldering iron.

Modern - Clio Cruise Control and Aftermarket Steering Wheels

This is the wiring diagram to do it in a clio mind so you will have to double check the resistances, id be surprised if its different though it could be.
Excellent, cheers Adey. Hopefully it won't take too long to do. I'll pop into Maplins and buy the resistors. The steering wheel will be the last piece of the jigsaw to be fitted, which should be in a couple of weeks.

This week as well as dealing with the steering wheel I've also secured a deal selling the leather Recaro seats. The person contacted me after I'd mentioned I was a fitting a bucket seat in their place, we agreed a price and arranged to meet at a friends to take the seats out. I took the deal as it gave the opportunity to recoup some of the money I've spent out on the wheels and coilovers...... Only to now shell out on brakes, well in the next week or 2, but for now I've clawed back £800 this week. £600 for the seats and £200 on the R26 wheels.... Oh and £170 on the headunit, so that initial £1100 spend up in the last 2 weeks means the R26R wheels and BC coilovers have cost me about £200.

So today another step towards the track look interior, quite easy this step. 8 bolts and the front seats out and another 6-8 for the rear seats. During the week after work one evening I popped over to a local breakers to buy a pov spec cotton seat as a temporary measure until I fit the Sabelt seat, I can move it about as and when meanwhile. I'm actually warming to the new look interim seat and it bolts straight in. What it has done now the passenger seat is missing is throw up the airbag and service light so I'll have to sort resistors I imagine to cancel this out.

the interior looks really strange with a standard seat in it. Show how much the Recaros really lift the interior.
The chap who bought mine had the ones with the blue inserts so a nice upgrade, and fitted them with the lower subframes which made a difference. I think as I have another Meg with cotton interior it's not much difference to me. Yeah the Recaros are top spec and at some points didn't question myself as to why I was selling them but it should redeem itself when I fit the Sabelt bucket seat.

I stayed after work to finish off the cruise control bracket to fit the Sabelt steering wheel. First I drilled the 5mm holes where the bolts will go through to pick up the steering wheel boss, then I drilled the 4 holes (12mm) to allow for the momentary switches. Once that was done between a junior hacksaw cutting the straight sections and a coping saw to cut the radius, it was pretty much done. After it was all cut I ran a file along the edges to take off the rough edge all the way round.

Once it was home I fitted the switches to the panel, then bolted the steering wheel to the boss. It couldn't have worked out any better, all 6 holes lined up between the steering wheel, cruise control bracket and the steering wheel boss. I used 20mm bolts instead of the supplied 12mm bolts as I felt the 2mm carbon plate might null and void the OE bolt length.
