Renault 5 turbo vag 1.8 20vt engine, 5 speed box drop in conversion available

Yes for 2 reasons

1. Goes to a good home and be used for a good project
2. Empty space in back of the 5, rs3 5 pot lump sitting waiting along with dsg box to go in and start the fabrication

Almost finished friends sr20det conversion/ nut & bolt rebuild so full steam ahead on 5's

Stop typing. Start finishing !

id like to see threads on both, the 1.8t this has gone too and the rear engined one. been missing some mad threads since the evo 5

Thanks guys, been on hold for some time now and 20vt setup would be the nice easy option but........

Kind of just evolved

Will try to get some time to do a proper thread and keep it pic heavy

Sensible daily this one even considering climate control

RS3 engine will be mental in a 5 :0). You are a nutter after my own heart. Make a good double feature for them in PFC 500 bhp 5 v's 500 bhp GTA :0). DSG box will be a good addition. I reckon I will need some form of traction control to avoid killing myself. I was reading a 4 way supercar test from a few years in EVO the other day and they go on about 4 wheel drive , traction control , torque vectoring and god knows what else so the cars can put down the power and then you look and you see your car is going to have 50 bhp per ton more, loads more torque and not even ABS it focuses the mind somewhat. I've got quite wide tyres and an old fashioned LSD, what could go wrong :0)

Glad you approve

Running the syvec ecu needed to get this engine and box happy in the 5 which give full control over the dsg along with launch control but also has motorsport tc fully configurable to help when not just eating tyres and finding the limits of my talent lol

DSG was chosen for 3 reasons in the end (even of far more difficult to get working and heavier)
1. Smoothness of gear changes up and down to assist in trying to stay straight
2. Extra noise from gear change, including options of popping and banging on downshifts
3. Quicker although not really needed lol

It is a road car for major sense of occasion and have the ikle race car for track fun

Something about Renault 5, 5 pot, 500bhp that seems to roll off the tongue

Still to confirm rear width of tyres but min would be 285

Lastly thought about ABS but may just man up and not bother

I'm as excited as you lot!!!

Possibly some kind of feature covering my old vag powered 5, the s3 tfsi powered vx220 conversion, sr20det powered 7 style race car and the rs3 powered 5

All very different cars but a theme running

Think we may have been separated at birth lol. I'm hoping the rear engine traction and the quaife will keep it together in a straight line but the bent bits are concerning me a little . My turbo GTA handles 320bhp 320 torque pretty comfortably to be fair but its the instantaneous low down torque that will cause the problems. Having a factory GM ECU has lots of advantages but it would have been nice to have the traction control option of an aftermarket ECU. I Have DSG in my Transporter van and its a great gearbox. I wouldn't choose for a road car normally as I do like a manual but for a track day weapon it will be fantastic. And you get to keep both hands on the wheel :0)

Based on watching my mates 550hp Ultima CanAm (LS3), you might be OK in the dry to a point, but if it's wet, you're a dead man. Backwards through a hedge, upside down and on fire.

It will be a glorious death.

I found in high powered vx220's different I know but LSD fitted needed to change your brain as it is far less forgiving and can bit hard.......but great for leaving 2 black lines and when in terror mode

Love ultima's
