Yeah I made a start by borrowing a friend's crane which ended up not being able to lift high enough to remove it as the piston is a bit broken.. so its sat in there waiting to come out until i get paid and buy my own to finish it off.
Engine crane on order so progress soon at last. Also scored a complete interior, the car had no interior bar the bucket seats and harnesses. All gone now and replaced nice beige base model equipment, got a carpet, seats and belts, all plastics, door cards etc. got the dash too. View attachment 89889
New engine mount rubber as the stud had snapped, new driveshaft pin, and started some plumbing. Need to change the passenger driveshaft, finish plumbing then wiring and some other stuff but hopefully done soon-ish..
Forgot to update this, things changed quite a bit!
I painted the car black again, and sourced the full GTT PH1 kit. All pieces were damaged, cracked, or snapped in multiple pieces. Repaired most of it so far and brought back to what is in my opinion a good colour close to OE with absolute ease, some of it still needs adjustment and bits that are broken off to be repaired but at the moment I’m not really bothered as it is what it is and was a good use of what most people would chuck in the bin
The conversion is mostly done too, I think it just needs a wire or two conncting in the right place then it should run but I have been struggling to get it to work, hopefully soon as I’m desperate to drive it. Got a stainless exhaust and fibreglass bonnet too!
I put the ragtop roof in as well, it was a sunroof shell so zero shame, especially as the sunroof wasnt there.
If it works I will bring it to retro show at pod and run it if does turn out to be fast!!
(i made the pics big because i like it so much, adey)
Progress! It now cranks over, going to check everything over then get some fresh fuel in and try and start it, failing that it will be checking spark/fuel supply etc.
It cuts out after about 10 seconds so i need to look into it, also need to put the exhaust on, box oil in, an accelator cable, and nip everything up/give it a check over before taking it for a test drive
Solved the issue of it cutting out and had it running for a while which was sweet. it now doesnt want to run at all, cranks over and sounds like maybe a relay issue..
After a little break I got it sorted this morning. Box oil in, need a throttle cable to drive it and I need to put an exhaust on too and make some sort of dash for the gauges it has and to hold the loom and ecus etc. But i still drove it down the street at least! Nice to see it out the spot its sat in for months
