Renault 5 Rescue

No pics but yeah golf coilovers came slotted for a bit of adjustment, thought I'd buy the top mounts though as they have the bearing built into them like the top mounts on a golf, which the 5 doesnt have.

Made its first commute to work today too, good to be driving something fun again. Weighs nothing so it handles like a go cart, just needs some more grunt ;)

Should be lots of updates soon

Made it to Essex and back today, she's a bit rough so more mechanical improvements to come before RRG next weekend, if I don't daily it through winter for some reason then I will be pulling the little spi lump out in lieu of probably a clio lump, I'd love a C1J in it having had a C1J clio but I'd be lucky to find one as good a base to work from, we'll see ;)

should turbo an energy lump for it, always wanted to do that. or what about a 1.1 twingo gt turbo lump?

I'd love to but I just need something relatively cheap and easy, b18ft is viable given that I live near a volvo breaker and the clio swaps are well documented now and quite readily available

Decisions..

i think the energy engine came in lates 5, defo in mk1 clios. bit of pipe and a welder jobs a good un lol (as if it was that easy)

Took it to RRG last weekend, it drove awesome on the 300 mile trip, met lots of cool people and now even more motivated to do stuff with it

Still using it as a daily driver for work too, good fun. Definitely need to find a door lock and mechanism for the drivers side as there's nothing there hence the mr. bean lock

Got some cool parts on the way too and some plans to materialise shortly..

Little update, given the general roughness of the car I decided to paint it, was originally going to be a pale burnt orange colour and that's the colour I will be doing it in a week or two, but I had a bit of black laying around so I did it with that for now.

I dont like matt black cars and this being satin doesnt really get away with it but at least the whole car is one colour until I can paint it properly and sort all the bodywork out. Found a harness out of an e36 drift car my brother did which I've put in to replace the questionable passenger seat belt fitted, it worked but didnt have the rail that 5's should..

I could probably pull off the cliche "murdered out" look with an engine swap but given that I've just sold my other car, an engine swap for this will have to wait until I buy another car but it is definitely on the cards.

Also picked up a ph1 resin knob and coupe badge from Jonny, I have a devil brace and cup steels so I'd love to do a cup-car type thing (not a replica or anything) with it when the engine swap happens as I cant afford a real one but absolutely love them
