windscreen replacement booked for thursday so ill be able to see where im going properly. The screen is so de laminated its like driving with cataracts
Yay no more driving blind, new screen in today so I can see where I'm going now.
Also I've had a leak from the gearbox, really hard to see where from but it looked to be weeping from the end cover. Whipped it off this eve and gave it a clean. Gearbox side was wire brushed and the cover blasted clean. WD40 on the rubber seal and then some oil resistant rtv added for good measure before fully refitting it all. I've left the car jacked up high to give it time to cure as I have no clean containers to catch the oil. Fingers crossed it's now fixed, the smell of gearbox oil is firmly stuck up my nose at the mo.
Urgh great, this morning now sees me with a clutch that's slipping at stock boost levels. Starting to be an annoyance that and the turbo been goosed. Especially when I thought I'm now at the point of been able to enjoy the car
Boom time, well this teaches me for not properly checking things out before use, the turbo was bolted to the setup I got and now in 25miles has had to be removed
So on with the replacement, measures up to be a t25/t28 hybrid thing. Still need to test it out and set it up but fits up a treat to the wonderful downpipe
The oil pressure warning light comes on at about 1 bar Adey, so you need above that at Idle. Use decent oil, 5w50 synthetic is what i'd suggest. You could tweak the relief spring too if you can be arsed taking the sump off.
ok cool cheers guys. on the case today trying to sort a pressure gauge before testing the car out. I would of done it by now if @Brigsy didn't say anything but now ive switched to full Renault paranoia mode! and i don't want to kill the new turbo.
If its noted at being slightly low ill pull the sump and inspect further after trying an oil change to 5/10W50
ok so fitted an oil pressure gauge today. not a happy bunny. 20psi at idle cold dropping to less than 10psi as warming up. gentle drive to check it out and i cant get it above 25psi. got back home and checked it again with the gauge reading about 5-6 psi and look in to see the oil pressure light flickering.....
rather pissed off now and unsure what route to take, considering this has done less than 35 miles and was supposedly straight out of a running car that was perfectly fine. Couldnt of been with all the issues ive had...
Sump off and check the oil pump mate. Might have a campus pump fitted or possibly a worn out gtt pump. If its a gtt pump whack some new rotors in it and check the prv is not jammed. I would probably take the bearing caps off and check them too.
