Wanted Renault 19 Metal Coolant Pipe

LH16v

Active Member
Hi,

I am after the metal coolant pipe that runs down the side of the head on a phase 2 19 16v. The part number is 7700866943. I am struggling a bit as I cant find one anywhere. Searched Ebay across Europe as well as all the usual car part websites.

Would appreciate any tips on how to find one or perhaps someone has one lying around somewhere?

Thanks in advance.

These are going to be pretty much unicorn shit as it's probably long since NLA from renault and used ones will be rusty

If you don't have the oil cooler (which if you were in the UK I'd presume you don't, but Swedish cars I have no idea) then you can use this one

Don't forget to skimlink!

I've just had a quick peek in my stash and found one of these, plus a new third type.

I'm sort of reluctant to let these go for obvious reasons, but if you can't use the ebay one for whatever reason, then I'll probably sort you out as you're one of the long-term R19 faithful!

In theory I'm F7-less at some point this year anyway

No oil cooler on mine.

The one on eBay looks different to mine. Mine has 2 pipes whereas the eBay one has a single pipe. Does coolant actually flow through both pipes?

Mine is currently held together with chemical metal which has lasted around 4 years or so. I kinda figure it is about time I fixed it properly.

Yeah I realise that but look how it's piped up. With no oil cooler, you'll just have the loop hose (item 13) so water goes into the small pipe, through the loop then joins into the big pipe. Zero point.

The ebay one just cuts out the pointless loop. I dont know why they fitted the dual pipe version to cars with no cooler.

I've never seen a 16v with a factory oil cooler but I know they did exist. I heard once that if you ordered a tow bar as a factory option then you got the cooler but I don't know how true that is. Perhaps this coolant pipe was fitted to the engines before allocation to individual cars where a cooler was/wasn't fitted. Who knows?

According to Dialogys, all after 93 should have the single pipe anyway, although I've only ever seen the dual pipe fitted.

Thanks for the info Neal.

A few years back I bought these but when I got them I found there were not the same as the one I have- but maybe they would work afterall. There is a smaller pipe on those - not sure what that is for though. The one on the left came off ebay and someone has butchered it a bit.

I also bought the ebay pipe that you linked - should also be skimlinked.

That's from types which have some sort of throttle body heating, in this case F2N engine

But yeah, looks like it's the same as the 16V one except with one extra redundant pipe.

And you've got 2 of them!

Hmmmm, seems this 3 pipe type is still readily available from loads of places

part number 7700272259

Lop off the extra pipe and it's the same as the 16V item. So that's useful to know.

Looks like there's another type as well that's still available, diesel version

part number 7700860376

This one's got a little boss on it for a temp sensor. Block that up and it's usable on 16V

Jesus there are loads of 'different' version of this part still available!

This one looks exactly the same as the 16V one but... er.. has a little heatshield thing sticking out which of course means they wouldn't possibly have been able to unify these parts across different engines and have just one part number.

No idea if other manufacturers do this shit but Renault are a fucking joke for it.

Best crosscheck that Dacia dont have the same part as well..

Yep, I think I will give that a go for the time being and use the one I bought on ebay as a backup just in case.

I don't know so much about modern Renaults but I wonder if they have changed over the years.
