Renault 11 Turbo Phase 2 Restoration

There a set of seats on the bay
Yeah saw them thanks. Believe me I've got enough R11 Seats to fit out a coach now!! 😆

Funnily enough an update to my thread today!! My GREY seat fabric has arrived, and I've arranged to take the interior of the car over to the trimmers on Thursday 21st Jan 2021.

He reckons he cannot get round to completing the work until end March time... but wants to have a good look round and give me a price*

*Arse is already clenched for another dry rodgering

Another day in the Garage today, and first job was to get the fog-lights mounted to the front bumper.

As I mentioned previously, 3 out of the 4 captive nuts were missing from when they were all rusted to the screws during the tear down. So I got myself some new stainless captive nuts and figured out re-fitting them.

The holes for them are blind as the fog-light housing is a separate part to the front bumper that’s riveted on. So first job was to drill a thru-hole to allow me to fit the fastener:

Next i needed to Dremel out the rear of the hole to a square to allow the fastener to go in:A0CD8BCC-86B7-4EA4-AB90-C4077BD9EDAE.webp
Then it was just a case of juggling the captive nut into place:

With the fog lights now properly fastened, I then tentatively fitted the bumper to the car:

Encouraged by how it looked, I then unpacked the freshly painted hockey sticks 🏒 That go under the headlights:

Then I just went crazy, and fitted the rest of the front of the car!!

Interior taken to my trimming guy today

He’s looked at all the work and kept the rear seats and hopes to perhaps get them done NEXT WEEK! 😲 🎉

Delighted to hear that as it means I can start to re-assemble the interior of the car from the back to the front.

I’ve still got a few bits of paint and touch up to do to the front seat frames so agreed I will drop them off after he’s done the rears.

2021’s going to be the year...! 🤞

Oh for FOOKS sake!!! :ireful2.gif: Another bloody one step forwards and then two back.

Phone call from my Upholsterer today, he’s unpackaged the grey cloth and found it to be damaged:

You see the tiger 🐯 stripes in the material.. apparently he’s worked with enough of this material to know it means the material is damaged and it won’t stretch/steam/iron out..!

Apparently caused by the material not being properly rolled onto the roll they sent me with it...

Now I’m in the hands of the French company I got it off.. and waiting to see what their response is..

Mother ......! 🤬

Not been in the garage for a few weeks as I’ve turned my hand to a living room renovation instead. Been building a new fireplace/media wall:

Finished off the plaster boarding today.

Not all effort has been stopped on the 11 though.. won this brand new period OE water bottle on eBay over the weekend and am absolutely chuffed to find it!! It’s the only bit of the engine bay I wasn’t happy with..!
