Renault 11 Turbo Phase 2 Restoration

Same happened to me Steve, once I redid the bathroom and replaced the couple of grand it cost, my fecking boiler packed up and I had to throw a shitload of cash at that too. Lucky @dip21 and @am21t are plumbing pimps and hooked me up a staggering bargain!

So, bathroom is now finished (I'll update the home thread for those member interested in my bathroom in-time :grin.gif:), so lets get cracking with this 11 Turbo project again! :dance.gif:

I've had a couple of days in the garage again this week to have a fiddle with the Power Steering gear @Nick Kettle helped me source and think I have got it figured!! Yes with a bit of jiggery pokerey the plan is for the 11 Turbo to have power steering. :i-m_so_happy.gif:

It appears that I can use the existing alternator and it's adjustment rod rather than the Power steering adjuster. I've believe I've found the correct drive belt for the power steering pump as well. I plan to use a R19 16v or Clio 1.8 16v Power Steering rack (when I can get one).

I've got a painter coming to have a look at the car tomorrow night (hopefully) to give me an idea of the cost for the work I want doing.

Have been scouring the internet over recent weeks and managed to source a couple of original "RENAULT 11" badges off ebay Germany this week which I'm delighted about as that now means I have all brand new badges for the car.

The plans for the 11 is to make it OE+. I want to make it as modern as I can with Power steering (now Brigsy's got me thinking of Air Con....) etc. I've sourced R19 16v rear axle and Front subframe that I'm putting on which will make the tyres fill the arches a little better and give the car a tougher stance (and hopefully even better handling..?)

Yes i've got a set of 14" OE wheels already refurbished ready to go on, and also a set of 15" Clio 16v Turbines power-coated in shiny silver which I think will look great!

The body will be resprayed in Silver Metallic like before, I really like the Silver. I've got brand new bumpers, and Bonnet, a load of spares from the Red 11 I broke (Including some great doors). A painter is coming round tonight to have a look at it and give me some idea of the cost/timescale. I'm seriously considering to get the shell dipped/stripped to remove all of the old paint/sh1te/underseal so I can make it a proper job and better than the Raider.

Engine is just going to be fully dressed. You wouldn't believe just how well it runs & sounds so I'm going to take some of my own advice with this one and not strip it down to rebuild it. New OE Rad, Pipework, new plated brackets, etc the whole shebang..

Dam you Briggs.... you're giving me even more ideas now...!? :) The trouble is though, where do you put all of the condenser, air dryer, evaporator etc...? I missed out on an auction for a full R5 Aircon Kit and you can see there is plenty of kit involved to fit Air-Con:

Power Steering stuff came off a 1.4 Monaco that was broken and someone had the foresight to strip all the parts off and keep them together in a bag, and thankfully it ended up in my lap. Unfortunately there aren't any instructions so it's a little bit of a suck it & see, but I'm enjoying that part :)

Only just found/seen the thread Steve, well impressed mate with the restoration project:acute.gif: Nice one on sticking to your guns on the original price :yes3.gif:
Bathroom looks good aswell lol
hope all goes well with the restore though :dance.gif:

This reminds me of a small cartoon I saw in a local New York newspaper in the
mid 1960's - depicting a traffic jam in the heat-wave - caption read: "Mabel,
don't wind the window down, we don't wan't everyone to know we don't have
air-conditioning" :)

All that kit, extra weight, drain on the power and extra fuel consumption. On a
fun car car like that - what is the point?

Regards,
Steve
