Exactly like you said matt. All gone now maybe I was lucky as no two cars are the same but rob did say that he had done quite a few before for mark fish so he obviously knew what he was looking for.
The ECU which the VEE uses is quite common - Bosch Motronic ME 7.5 ...
From my knowledge and research of it is uses a fly by wire and works on a 'torque request' basis where the throttle position and other inputs determine a torque request figure which the ECU then delivers via adjusting throttle flap position, ignition timing and fuel injection. Additional factors are also taken into account i.e. obvious ones like ambient temperature and less obvious ones like the air conditioning being turned on etc. All things which can impact the ability for the engine to deliver torque under any conditions.
This 'fly by wire' and 'torque request' method means of power delivery is why the throttle pedal operation can seem a little 'disconnected' - which is what I experienced in my Vee when I bought it ... Throttle response seemed to be laggy as the ECU and engine responded to the 'torque request' I was making - without me at the time even realising this was how it worked. It even altered my driving style as for me, in the same way that turbo cars behave, I felt that it was possible to anticipate the engine behaviour and therefore operate the throttle to compensate for the lag ...
Tuning the ECU can dial out these issues making throttle response sharper but we also need to be aware that some of the torque maps are there to protect components like the gearbox by giving a safe margin. The torque maps which control the target (kind of maximum) torque allowed at any load point can be adjusted to improve performance (especially on a turbo car as many share this ECU) but this all needs to be done carefully so it is good to set expectations of what is possible and safe. N/A cars are difficult to extract power out of with just ECU changes as normally other changes would also need to be made and mapped against i.e. exhaust, induction etc.

Yes I have an S3 and the software to read and write to this ECU etc. aswell ... I think I have seen references to the V6 ECU definitions and maps so probably not too dificult to extract and view it as an experiment ... I don't have a Vee anymore but have extracted my Audi data and have various maps that I could play with on my S3 ...
Re-reading this thread...and my comments Re. Superchips!...I think mine needs remapped once again...Seems to throw out a fair bit of Oil. Although that could be age and saggy valve guides/seats.
It's been well over a year since i even drove the car... It was smoother as a result of the map, but didn't run anymore power from memory. The extra rev's 7.8k help on the track...but last time around i was shifting at a little over 7k...
I wouldn't say a map is hugely worth it tbh! If i were you, an exhaust/bypass pipe etc would be where my £ would go!
