R5 SR --> turbo?

I've been planning to add a turbo motor to my R8 Alpine, but I don't want to de-value the car with a turbo motor. So how about adding a turbo to an atmo R5? A 1989 R5 SR 5-speed with a 1.2 motor is currently for sale on bringatrailer.com. What mods would be required to upgrade the car to R5 GT Turbo specs (bsides the motor)? I raced an Encore (R11) here in the US for several years so I am very familiar with the motor/trans setup of the Gen II R5. Are there any showstoppers I should be aware of? Your collective knowledge on the subject would be very helpful.

Also, is the rear suspension of the R5 the same as an R11?

Front end wise, you will want gtt hubs and struts/top mounts. I think stock rack is more turns lock to lock than gtt, gtt is terrible regardless so clio2 rack is a nice upgrade.

Basically the same rear beam as r11, r11t is wider track from memory.

Thanks. The rear axle assembly in my race car was from an R11 turbo. A friend who also races an Encore has a spare rear axle. And some custom front struts.

Yes it's a super 5. It was imported for Bulgaria recently.

This may be a lost cause. The seller probably wants way more than I'm willing to spend!
