Dinitrol is the bees knees but oh so expensive. The guys over at driftworks use it and prefer it to just about anything

Yeah, I’ve used Dinitrol stuff. Stay away from the underseal though, check my rebuild thread on the R11, underneath I’ve stone chipped, then over painted body colour, looks Lovley under there..

If you have a compressor use spray-on Gravitex, after its primed of course. You can paint over the Gravitex afterwards.

@Big Steve - Raider - your R11 build is my bible, I was reading it again last night, looking at the section on the seam sealing and rust proofing. I just don't want to mess it up after going through all this trouble!

So process - Carry out the welding & prime as i go - Apply rust treatment to all exposed edges - Apply polyurethane seam sealer - Apply stone chip/ Gravitex to underside - send to body shop?

Yep! You're doing alright.

So, finally got the welder set-up yesterday and have bought some flat plate to practice with. I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. I'm not blowing through on the butt joints as much anymore, and even had a go at some thicker angles!! Its quite therapeutic!!
I also got the sandblaster fired up and blasted a water pump! it looks good too!! Looking forward to getting started on the R5 parts next!

A bit more practice is required before I go anywhere near the car!! Just need to source a rotisserie now, I pick the car up on 2nd Sep, can’t wait to see it again!! Any ideas on the rotisserie anyone?

Trailer hitched up ready to go and collect the R5 from the dippers. I have had some pictures from Vaughan at Enviro-strip and TBH the car doesn't look in bad shape at all! I'll get some more pics up later once the car is back home!
