I think this is bollox, when spending £500 notes i expect it to fit properly, I dont expect to spend that kinda money and then have to bend it with a bar!!!!.
I wouldnt buy a £500 TV and then have to wack it everyday to get a good picture.
Dont get me wrong its a quality product and i want it and i know its hand made specially, blardy blardy blar,
Put mine up by hand to my standard one and didnt quite seem to sit the same but we shall see next week. :?

QS do not use TIG welding.....James said all the QS back boxes will discolour/tarnish like you see on Motorbike cans after time....as a result of the heat! Theres nothing you can do about it...

And you can heat the pipes to bend them into place. If you remove the back bumper you can heat the pipe s behind the part you see ie the exit pipes. Come to think of it unless your cutting out the centre section of the bumper your never gonna see the effects of tarnishing or discolouring because most of the QS exhaust is not visible anyway!

Ant....is your christian name short for Anthony or Antonio or maybe Anthea?

(Joking...)

I'm sure the discolouring will look great on these systems as I always notice motorbike cans when they tarnish and chnage colour like a chameleon/rainbow!

Did you cut out the centre section of the bumper or take the grilles out?

Ant, are you the Anthony going to Bromley tommorrow? if so it will be a good chance to hear your car.

PS. this thread is far more exciting than Big Brother!, mind you what isnt.

Wow is all I can say!

Just got my car back, I took it to an Alfa specialist as they had a good reputation and they also work on other makes of cars, and good garages are hard to find but they fitted the back box no problem. :)

When I first spoke to the guy he said it sounded quite loud, and I was like yeah, thats what I expected, lol.

All I can say is that the exhaust sounds amazing!! I honestly can't believe how loud it is. It has a lovely burble on idle (sounds like a scooby) and when you nail it it roars like an A-bomb!

I must admit it is very boomy but thats what I expected.

Been for a wee drive around the city of edinburgh and the car gets twice the attention it got before!

Think my girfriend will hate it though.

Good review. Positive. At least you understood fully what to expect. Glad you like it!

Mines should be along next week I hope!

Top 10 Tips and techniques

1. If the drone annoys you buy some of those littel foam ear plugs.....they work a treat for cancelling out low frequency noises
2. The changing colour to goldish looks very cool especially on the black/gold paintwork (mine)
3. The sound get's better with time, fuel consumption gets worse as 6000 rpm and above is a joy in any gear!!!
4. Pipe alignment I don't believe is QS problem. Mine fits perfectly.
5. S/S pipes bend easily, use a broom handle after a long hard run when they are hot and they'll move if you need them to.
6. get a mate to dirve past is a great idea as the sound of a passing Vee on full chat with a mega exhaust is the expereince all others get......it's worth it
7. 2nd gear downshifts in town with a tiny blip then back off give you the full pop bang expereince
8. Don't expect the girlfriend to appreciate it just buy more shoes, wine, and chocolates
9. Once settled in make sure you re tighten the clamps and make sure no gasses escape at the joint, otherwise, more noise than you bargined for......buy new clamps and S/S bolts and smear the joints with exhaust compound. Leave overnight and then gentle drive to bake the seal before a full bore blast
10. Find tunnels and Ferrari's it's a BLAST!!!!!

Well those last 3 pages of negativity were a red herring. This thing rocks. :D

I'll stitch a vid together in a bit.

Thanks for sorting out the group-buy Pete, we'll have to see who's noiser at the next tunnel run.

Bit of a write-up:

I have the OMG version, which although it doesn't have any sound-deadening material in the 'silencer' it does still have baffles (argue with me if you like, I've looked down the barrel of it ;)), which I reckon helps the exhaust sound LOUD yet tuneful.

The exhaust is loudest at anything above idle to about 3500rpm, where although its still loud, its tone changes so that (in my case) the BMC IK still makes the loudest bark, the actual engine also helps in drowning out the exhaust at 5krpm +. Whether this will change once the system has coked up a bit is anyones guess - I suspect the noise will change a bit in the next couple of K's.

The colour of my tailpipes have already changed to a bronze-gold look after the first few runs, this indicates the tailpipes get fucking hot so its important that they're not touching the bumper (I think even being close may cause problems eventually). As for the alignment - the metal bar trick works fine if they're pointing too high, unfortunately my left pipe is a bit too far left. Bending it with the same metal bar when hot didn't work.

Overall (and considering the system isn't bedded in yet) I'm very pleased with the results. Its nice and loud, doesn't sound farty / chavish and burbles like a goodun' when you brush the accelerator on the overrun.

Here's a vid for anyone who's still interested in what they sound like.

very nice Mike. if it's anything like the de cat tubi i had on 355, the sound will deff get better with more miles. The back box colour will also change from silver to bronze due to heat .
Do you run cats or use straight pipes?

I thought it would be alot louder than that. Is it very different in the flesh compared to the video? Does sound nice though :D

One other thing, how shit hot do V's look on the road. You kind of forget when you have one :D :D
