They all give a constant drone cruising along.....I'll wait to pass judgement until mine arrives.

Just to clarify my points earlier, droning is fine, deafening noise is fine, changing the exhaust characteristics from the 'normal' QS (burble, the odd pop and generally nice rasp) to a flat sounding bean-tin is not. The proof will be in the pudding, and dessert is served tomorrow for me

Yeah but you asked specifically for the OMG version despite James himself saying it would be unbearably loud....if you don't like it theres not much you can do about it except sell it unfortunately.

V6 00 RS ill be checking to see if yours is the same sound as mine. i questioned wether they had given me the wrong box by mistake.
when are you getting yours fitted?

Paul,

Its Tim....spoke on the phone a few times!

Mines the standard and I won't get it for 2 weeks.

I'll defo meet up and we can compare!

When I spoke to James @ QS yesterday he admitted to panicing a little over the reaction on the "OMG" version. But the bottom line is that those who bought it were told it would be noisy and so there's no option to get a refund.

I'll make do with my BMC and std exhaust for now....

As far as I can tell, no one has a problem with the loudness of the sound.....

Wait for it to coke up a bit ... or get some ear defenders.

Most systems change quite a bit in the first 1k miles or so.

Panic merchants the lot of you (except Mike) ;)

Thank Feck I changed my mind form OMG to STD, it is certainly loud enough, any louder and It would do my pickle,

Im chuffed to bits with mine, yeah it dosent line up perfect in the bumper but thats nothing that a slight bit of pipe bending wont sort out.

The standard QS back box is louder and "boomier" than the standard unit. But IMO is also sounds much better. It is deeper and pops and bangs more. It is overall more "fruity". It suits the car much better than the overly quiet standard system. IMO those with the standard QS box will grow to love it, even if they do not love it like I did from day 1. It is not perfect but it IS a big improvement. I for one (and Ant too) am perfectly happy with it. Everyone who has seen or heard mine has also loved it.

The OMG version came about due to converstaions others had independatly with QS. They asked for it, I checked, and QS offered it as requested. HOWEVER please remember there were ample warnings. You were told that it is on your head and there is no going back etc. The thread is covered with warnings / comments along those lines. You asked for a specific development and have recieved it as ordered. If you don't like it the options are sell it or pay for it to be toned down. I'd hazard a guess that cutting it open and adding baffles will cost hundreds (if it is in fact possible). You cannot blame QS for this, and you cannot expect them to offer a refund. If you feel agreaved please give it time for the back box to bed in and then you can think about your options. The note does change over time. IMO zorsts mellow over time and maybe that will help.

I REALLY hope everyone else likes the back boxes. BUT if you don't asuming it has arrived in one piece, and fits QS will not bail you out and replace it.

Peter :(

Can anyone who's installed their own offer any suggestions on lining the pipes up in the bumper cut out?

Minus point: I've had problems with the alignment. I reckon QS have manufactured the unit exit pipes 5mm out - pretty poor tolerances.
The tail pipes dress to the right (or the left if you're looking at it). We tried a touch of pipe bending with the unit secured, but you'd need to remove the back bumper to achieve the desired leverage. Any suggestions? Will it have to go back to QS?

Plus point: It does enhance the Vee experience, I love the sound-track.

Minus point: I've suddenly developed tinnitis.

Plus point: Paid sick leave - hurray!

Ants and mine were spot on left to right they just came out at the top of the holes. Also (thankfully) the correct spacing between the 2 pipes.

I'd suggest maybe moving the collector box..... :?

Peter
