QuickSilver Stainless Steel Backbox Group buy

Depends what you want the most. I wanted the noise and I really hope that's what I'm going to get. If I wanted it to look the part through the grills (or without the grills) I'd possibly of taken that new K-Tech. But, if I wanted it to look good with the back cut away I reckon I'd of still taken the QS.

So QS obviously haven't sold any/many Mk2 backboxes recently then if the fitting problem has only come to light? Judging by the superb quality I'm sure they'll be anxious to fit it and keep the other customers happy (and reassure the potentials). Keep us posted!

Looking well nice that, with all my recent problems im thinking perhaps i should of gone for that option, altho i am really just wanting the looks as not into the snap, crackle or pop, or perhaps i should of gone for the newer KTec but then would i get similar problems!!! :?

Oh! Let's go!
Steve walks warily down the street
With his brim pulled way down low
Ain't no sound but the sound of his feet
Machine guns ready to go

Are you ready hey are you ready for this?
Are you hanging on the edge of your seat?
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
To the sound of the beat yeah

Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone and another one gone
Another one bites the dust
Hey I'm gonna get you too
Another one bites the dust

How do you think I'm going to get along
Without you when you're gone
You took me for everything that I had
And kicked me out on my own

Are you happy are you satisfied?
How long can you stand the heat
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
To the sound of the beat look out

Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone and another one gone
Another one bites the dust
Hey I'm gonna get you too
Another one bites the dust

Hey
Oh take it - Bite the dust bite the dust
Hey Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust ow
Another one bites the dust he he
Another one bites the dust hay yay ya ya ya
Ooh shout

There are plenty of ways that you can hurt a man
And bring him to the ground
You can beat him
You can cheat him
You can treat him bad and leave him
When he's down yeah
But I'm ready yes I'm ready for you
I'm standing on my own two feet
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
Repeating to the sound of the beat

Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone and another one gone
Another one bites the dust yeah
Hey I'm gonna get you too
Another one bites the dust
Shoot out

E-he! Alright!

Email from QS

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Peter,

Thank you for your email. You have my sincerest apologies for the problems with fitting, and also with the delivery problems with your exhaust.

Yes, I’ve just replied to Anthony’s email, and am arranging to collect his system today and I will speak to SG Motorsport shortly to confirm if we can borrow his pattern to determine why the systems are not matching up.

As you alluded to, our reputation is of the greatest importance and we work very hard to ensure that the exhausts produced meet our customers’ expectations. Occasionally with hand made products a problem does occur. If and when this happens we will always seek to rectify the problem as quickly as possible. I’m not sure why this discrepancy has occurred, but I will try to find out the cause without delay.

As for the difficulties with delivery, these two exhausts have been a bit of a nightmare. For UK/EU deliveries, we use Business Post who are amongst the most reliable couriers available. However without dwelling on the issue too much, it’s fair to say that there have been some heated exchanges with them this past week.

Now to solve the problems, I am recalling your exhaust from business post and arrange collection of Anthony’s. As mentioned I will also speak with Scott shortly regarding borrowing his pattern to check against our own. I have halted production on the other systems until we are able to ensure that the first two fit correctly. Of course we would not charge you for the carriage costs.

You have been an excellent customer for us, and I greatly appreciate all the effort you’ve gone to. I will do the best I can to get this matter sorted as quickly and easily as possible.

Kind regards,
James

My responce
---------------------------------------------------------------------
James,

Thanks for your mail. I have posted your responce up on the BBS to try to reassure the other concerned customers that you have this situation in hand. Specifically that further deliveries will not be delayed, and more importantly that you have the quality control issue resolved.

Please can you urgently advise me of the likely new delivery dates for all of the orders recieved thus far. That is bearing in mind the time taken to retrieve the initial failed boxes, the time to recieve and measure the pattern from SG Motorsport, update the jig, and make new back boxes.

I realise the dates may be approximate but i NEED something to tell the anxious customers re: timescales.

Thanks

Peter

In summary the current jig has the wrong dimensions so the first 2 back boxes are both lovely shiny scrap metal!

Scott has agreed to lend QS a collector box so they can ensure the new jig is 100% perfectly aligned. The new jig will be used and the resulting back box will be tested against the collector box. Only when this is successful and complete will further back boxes be constructed. This should ensure the alignment issue NEVER occurs again.

So effect is ALL back boxes will be delayed. I will update further when I have dates. I'd guess a 2-3 week delay will occur.

Regarding delivery issues.... well thats couriers for you!

Peter

Takeshi Kitano's order takes it to 11!

I've heard back from James at QS. Scott at SG Motorsport is lending them a system to match it up to and the photos I took with it on the car are going to be put to good use in positioning the exit pipes.

Luckily they managed to halt the production of the others without it causing too much disruption. Any required changes will be made without any problems. He also said to pass on his sincerest apologies and assured me that, while these things do happen, it is an extreme exception.

...sorry, Peter. I took so long posting that I missed your comments.

I'm not surprised the courier had problems finding Scott's place. It was only my ability to sniff out all performance cars within a 3 mile radius that got me there.

Excellent work Peter, and thanks for the update. Any word from QS on extending the group buy deadline in lieu of the problems/delays?

I will chase them tomorrow and ask about this as well.

Update from QS
--------------------------------------
Hi Peter,

Thank you for your help with getting this straightened out.

The latest situation is I’ve halted production of the other systems, so as to prevent any more having this issue. Anthony’s exhaust has been collected from his office and is en route back to us. Your exhaust has been recalled, together with the pattern from SG Motorsports all of which should be here tomorrow. We will then take our own measurements before forwarding to the factory. The first two units will then be modified and should be back with you by Wednesday I would think.

I had a good chat with Scott this morning, who confirmed that it’s a case of the offside pipe not matching up properly, the box itself however did fit. So as a result we will restart the production once we are able to compare our existing pattern with the one Scott is lending us. We will make the correction to your systems first, and then the now nine additional orders.

I would therefore anticipate that with the delay we would be looking to have the systems start shipping out a week from Monday. Obviously I will be able to give more details once everything reaches the factory, but that is my best guess at the moment.

Please pass along my appreciation for everyone’s patience in this matter.

Best regards,
James

Ok so by my reading of the above, mine and Ant's b/boxes should be back with us by next Wednesday (7th June). The other b/boxes should start to ship from Monday 12th June.

I will chase QS later this week for an update after they have had time to analyse the pattern and the returned parts.

Cheers
Peter

Responce back to QS:

------------------------------------------------
James,

I have passed on your comments and the other buyers seem to be a little happier about the situation. One question has come up however. Almost unbelievably some are still intersted in joining the group buy, but are waiting for the first couple to be installed and hearing our feedback. Unders the circumstances I would hope that you would be happy to extend the group buy deadline until the end of next week to allow for Ant and / or I to have the parts fitted, and get some feedback to the forum. Please confirm you are happy with this.

Finally after you have examined the collector box (which connects to the b/box) as a "pattern" and the first 2 b/boxes, can you get back to me with some info. I for one am intersted in how this error has occured and how it will be prevented in future.

Thanks,
Peter

I hope you like the tone!

Peter

It is going to be tight. I'm taking the car to France, Germany, Italy and Switzerland a few days after that!
