My zorst was not delivered yesterday as it should have been. And now its not arrived today either.

Feckin steaming arse-biscuits!

And Ant has a story to tell as well!

Peter :(

Courier for Peter. I had some fitting issues that I couldn't resolve in time for today.

I was reminded by Scotty6R4 today that the Renault backboxes we have already on our cars (thr MK2 ones) cost Around £1,000 so don't go giving them away for nothing/next nothing. I was going to chuck mine out until he told me that.

im itching to hear these boxes...

ant..is it just the backbox itsself that you get? and can a backbox with the rest standard be THAT loud??

what sort of fitting issues?

The back box is joined to the collector box by 2 pipes. One either end of the silencer unit (have a look at pictures earlier in the thread). When aligned with the car it was clear that the pipes did not meet both ends. It would appear that they were made with the gap between them wrong. Otherwise the zorst was perfect (tail pipes, hangers, etc).

..... IIRC from what Ant told me.

This is a straight swap for the standard back box. The rest of the exhaust is not included or affected. Apparently it does make a huge difference in tone and volume!

peter..whats happening?? Is it a courier problem or a quicksilver one?

The issue for me is with QS arranging couriers. They basically failed to get one sorted in time (even given days to sort it out). My concern is the zorst will have been made on the same "jig", so to the same dimensions as Ant's. We need to get this confirmed to ensure the later orders are not affected. For those following this thread and waiting for later batches this issue will clearly be resolved for you and there will be no similar problems. Ant and I have just been the guinea pigs! How cute eh?

I am discussing the scenario with QS already.

Thanks
Peter

could it be that the exhaust was made to phase 1 measurements??

i read somewhere on here that another user had this bother with his k-tec?

maybe there is a difference in pipe distances on the mk1 and 2..??
just a thought?

The back boxes are interchangeable mk1 - mk2 so they must be the same dimensions.

IIRC the k-tec issues were tail pipe location. Not the backbox inlet pipe spacing.

Cheers anyway!

The problem is with the left hand connection to the pipe – it is about 1cm short of where it needs to be. It is a little bit frustrating as Scott had it on the car before it became clear it wasn't going to fit and by then I was already pissing myself with excitement because it looked so good. They are hand made so it is understandable these things are going to happen from time-to-time.

They are looking very good. Scott commented on how high the quality of the box is – far superior to the K-tech and Janspeed. I stuck it next to an Orbisoud and I have to say; if it was a Pepsi Challenge I'd have taken the QS. Scott also spoted that it is a revised design from the initial Quicksilver boxes – if you look at the photos you can see some of the differences. It is a very well made and crafted item (just not that well measured!).

Ah.....now that does look so much better! The original pic is what I was judging this on. I'm gonna phone tomoroow and get my order in now! Cheers QuickSilver!

that top box...is identical to the one i have on my car...even down to the hangers..

..but its not seriously loud..so... :? :?

Maybe it is a QS then. I don't reckon they will be LOUD. More like louder. I went in Scott's Vee that has the full Janspeed system when I was down at his garage – it sounded much, much better than the standard exhaust and was louder – but there is no way I'd describe it as unbearable or even intrusive.

Shame Peter or myself never managed to get one on our cars this weekend to give a bit more feedback to the guys as yet undecided.
