just picked up peters car for some work...drove 70 miles home and i now have an ear-ache in my right ear.
what a horrible noise.. the k-tec on mine only barks at 4-7k revs..the QS drones like a boat engine.
glad i went for the k-tec.

Clarkie - I have the k-tec too, same 1 as you. Sounds little bit more meaty than standard.

Wanted somethin a little louder so i tried the QS OMG.
And yes OMG it was it only lasted a weekend on the car. The drone is way to loud.

Sounds awesome from outside the car tho. Not good for day to day use.

A bit of that is the induction kit but I know what you mean.

It sounds great outside all the time. At about 3K it does drone inside tho. As other have said before its not ideal for long distance motorway use. BUT thats fine by me. I love the looks and sound outside. Its superb for quick "spins". Glad I never went for the OMG tho.

I still love it! :D

np mate. :D

I do know what you mean!

Peter

I had one for 5 months, sold it to jainy when i sold my mk1...

1-2k revs...sweet, quite loud...
3-4k revs...VERY VERY LOUD! (unfortunately..this is 6th gear motorway revs)
5-6-7k...absolutely gorgeous note..specially combined with a filter

:):)

Got the OMG box on my Clio and it's great round town and gets loads of attention. It's a really nice rich tone at all revs YouTube mate to hear the noise.

I Know what everyone means about the motorway drone though but I certainly woudn't swap mine back to the KTEC I had on before(to be honest couldn't tell too much difference between that and the standard one).

My Clio's a toy but if it was my everyday car I doubt I could cope and would most prob need a hearing aid!!

Matt.

I had the old k-tec back box on to start with, and on a mk2 v6 this sounds no different to std.But a mk2 is slightly noiser than a mk1 in std form so to a mk1 driver this is an upgrade in note and quality. Then i went for the std quicksilver box which from outside sounds as good as a lambo gallardo, but from inside its the drone that gets to you at 3000rpm will drive you insane.I had mine on for no more than 20 miles and it was sold days after fitting it.Then i fitted the newly developed k-tec box, which looks like the old k-tec box, but it is noiser and is adjustable so you do not end up with the pipes not centering in the bumper holes. This box sounds just like the quicksilver box from outside with no fuss inside at 3000rpm,is just as well made, its adjustable and its nearly half the price of the quicksilver.WHY DO PEOPLE RAVE ABOUT THE QUICKSILVER LIKE THIS IS THE BOX TO HAVE.Anybody that has fitted one has had to have them modifyed to make them fit for starters.

Not true. Mine fits fine. Admitedly Scott didn't get it on perfectly first time round but clarikie has got it spot on. Others have been fine too. There have been a few issues with some but they are the minority.

...Had mine (bought off Colin!!! And I'll never forgive him when I am totally deaf..!!) on the Vee 2 weeks now..... :?

First week...Hey..! I was happy as Larry...mooching about to work and back - so not very far, with limited chances to open the car up fully (morning/evening traffic  ) Still loved dropping down the gears and blasting it through a motorway tunnel and I'm loving the sound at this point.... :D Oh and I get all the IS guys at work, giving me the Chav seal-of-approval when they see me arrive in the works carpark....so at this stage, I'm sporting a proper SMUG grin.... 8)

Sunday gone....decides it's a good day to take the Vee out for a proper blast - oh yes.....100+ mile round trip to Derbyshire....  By the time we get to Derbyshire....my ears are ringing :? - conversation en-route has been totally impossible, as I can't hear bugger all, apart from when I am dropping down the gears and hitting around 2K revs which sounds absolutely amazing....and on-lookers are rubber-necking to see what it is...!!  (we like that bit..!!) By the time I got home (but that was after driving through a very scary snow-storm too  ) my ears weren't just ringing, they were pulsating..!!! 6 hours later when I got into bed....they were STILL ringing.....

.....was thinking of taking the Vee to Brands Hatch in April....but if I do, I think I will need a set of these.....   .

I don't understand the remark on the K-tec backbox. Is this the Janspeed one?

Since I have one fitted with 100cell Kats, and I've been kicked of a local track, while it was too loud.
Also I find it much louder than the standard box on a phase2, but not droning.

As far as i can remember there were issues with fitment,Scott sent a jig to quicksilver to help them,Made little differance as when i got mine it didnt fit to good either. There was someone on here advising to put a large pipe inside tailpipes and lever them over. This plus the noise issues = nightmare.

Fitted my quicksilver a few weeks ago and it was fine. My KTEC one was the opposite and was right up against the right side of the hole in the bumper. Made sure I put it on a level surface when fitting so that the engine was not on a slant and then tightened the bolts right up.

I had no trouble fitting my quicksilver , nothing sounds as good driving through an echoing highstreet, and nothing pops like a quicksilver, just cant wait till the summer for the driving with windows down weather to arive back :D :D

I belive ktec tried to fit 6 of their original exhausts to gonches car and not one was even close to lining up. so he joined us in the groupe buy for the qs :D

superior but deffening i think sums up a qs exhaust :D
