Phil's AMC GTA

That's great, really good to see you back on this.

Seems like you're pretty much there now...

Didn't help that we moved house either. It is however coming together well. Needs the front suspension doing, all the gears are in the same place and the window mechanism broke on me the other day too.

looks good phil, im delighted to see how this ones coming along, that car must be as rare as hens teeth over there, not to mention over here, keep up the good work, projects seem like an uphill struggle at times but its awesome when you read over your own project report and see how far its come, i read mine about 109 times daily, just updated and read the full thing again

Yep. There aren't many left. Sources say as few as 200.

It might get back on the road. Eventually. lol

Hi Phil.... Took my GTA out to a dance some 60 miles north friday night, and back 60 miles south... maybe I will go south next month for a 2 hour drive to a dance.....
Joe in Ohio.

PS . I have no idea how many miles are on my 87 R-9

I believe this is the 3rd odometer.

Wish I could get as far in mine!

Getting there. Unfortunately other things have been demanding time and money and effort, so progress has been slow; I need to move the car up here to the house.

Looking good. It's running well now, rebuilt the front suspension- no clunks, squeaks etc.

Small to-do list.

New flexi hoses, flush and bleed of the brakes.
Rebuild rear brake assemblies
Fix driver side window winder
New fuel filter
Refit interior

Uh

I think that's it.

Fifth gear is noisier than 1, 2, 3 and 4. I figure the 'box is worn after 129,000 miles and that fifth is outside the main body of the 'box... but a considerable difference?

Strike that. The entire service brake system barring the metal pipework is coming out to be replaced.

The hydraulics are full of fine metal shavings. Poo.
