Clio oops I did it again... Adey's Clio 200 EDC

It’s great to see someone giving some love to these unloved clios.

I definitely feel the press were very harsh with them which made them "unloved" or less desirable than the earlier versions . Its a grown up Clio for those that have come through the mk1s and mk2s with a hint of the turbo era thrown in.

If it wasnt for the gearbox though these would be a tuners favourite, these will do 8k on stock internals, 10k with internals. very underrated engine.

But as it is, its awesome power wise. Just needs a few chassis tweaks and a decent driver to get some pace out of it on track

Interesting to read your feedback @Adey as like you we used to do a lot of track days, road trips and general any excuse to do something more with the cars...😎

Having not gone on track for many years now do wonder if I still enjoy it like I used to or if growing older, responsibility of family/kids and generally more risk adverse as we are just pink squishy meat sacks (sure @DaveL485 can claim this saying but def stuck) wonder if still there and if would be able to hold pace also 🤔

Your post gives hope and the want to get back out and find out the fun way 👍

Amazing how some bad press can kill a car yet following yours seems to retain some of that core French magic we love and tick more usability options for more for us post 20 year olds 🫣

Them were the days 😁 . I was genuinely unsure if I was going to enjoy the day, but as it was super relaxed open pit setup it was great to get back out there at my own pace. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't going balls deep with no cares like we did back in the day but was still confident enough to push on and enjoy it. Ill defo be looking to get back into a few more this year. The only reason I went was because one of the younger lads at work wanted to do his first one. Ended up watching some old vids with him, and it got the juices flowing so I jumped on, the price was nice too (y)

Get on it, we should try and arrange a day where we all get to one......... CSF cough cough

So it's been less than a week.... cooksport springs fitted this afternoon and the symposer thing blocked off. Fitting was easy as really, there's plenty of droop in the suspension and you don't even need to use spring clamps, win there. Its not been driven yet so I'll let it settle before booking in for alignment. Jez was poking around under the car and noticed it has a center box delete already too which was a nice find. I do have a rotational noise on the front right, I can't feel play but I think it's the wheel bearing. I'll keep an eye on it and get it swapped out soon. Hmm what's next....

I have some humms going on now. What size is the wheel bearing? I have a 37mm inner ordered but it looks like there is a 45mm as well. Mine is a 63 plate if that matters.

Well this is a pretty momentous occasion for me.... as of now (well Monday) I will have owned the car a whole year! I've paid for the next 12 months of tax coming in at £210 and had it MOT'd yesterday. Advisories coming in at rear disks showing signs of wear and a leak on the exhaust that I knew about but haven't sorted (that's another little story). All in all a great year of motoring with a few changes and some fun. Covered nearly 13k in it too!

On the jump to get the suspension aligned nicely for CSF, I popped to my local garage to see what the rear alignment was saying this morning. Camber looks to be a chunk out from side to side. Email sent to Pure Motorsport so they can advise and ill buy what they tell me too :D

Indeed. I've ordered a 1 degree shim to bring the right wheels camber inline with the left. Nick has said when adding camber it should add toe in too which should bring the -0.04 inline with the left also. I have an extra .10 shim in case it still needs a tweak further. If I get chance ill fit the one tonight, drive way is now taken up with the broken 8 though so maybe a on the road job annoyingly

Not good news, had a slight noise a week ago from the front left. On the way home today after some back lane bashing it rattled some more. Just jacked it up to find the front left ball joint knocking. Tried to nip it up (just in case it was loose) and the nut just span its threads off with no effort..... spare nut thrown on for now, picking up a track rod end tomorrow to hopefully fit and get aligned by Thursday so I can hit the road Friday to CSF.
