Nitrogen in me 18's!

Hi all,

I'm going for it today, i'm booked in at my nearest specialist for everything wheels related. Fitting my new 18" OEM ph2 wheels with Faulken shoes (first time i've not had pilot sports on the car but she doesn't get driven hard very often nowadays), tracking, balancing, laser alignment redone and my Einbach spacers (£140 ouch!!).

I've gone for nitrogen in the tyres...... anyone done this before? Obviously driving is supposed to be better for holding the pressure, tyre wear etc... but come winter when she's tucked away in the garage? I always used to put extra air in for storage but supposedly nitrogen is better for storage aswell?

Can anyone give me there 2 peneth?

The only reason I know of for using nitrogen is that it doesnt expand as much as normal air when it gets warm helping keep the pressures down (pressures in rally car tyres increase by anywhere from 4 to 12psi during 1 stage).
The whole time i've used it (only our Michelin supplier does) i've never been aware of any other benefit.......

Isn't worth it in my opinion. Also if I go to a track I increase pressure for the motorway for better wear and reduce it on the track for better grip. Most of it will be gone after a while anyway.

BTW in case you're not aware of it: There is already 80% nitrogen in the tire anyway and you'll never get 100%. That's why I think its not worth it :)

2 great british pounds a tyre and two top ups free of charge whenever! So in the style of Borat I first said "why?!" Then "why not!!" I didn't really say it like that......tumbleweed......

Yesterday and today, the love for my car grows even more!..... Like a fine french wine!

100% pointless unless you purge them (vaccum all the air out), you're starting with atmospheric air in them anyway which is what 75% nitrogen? waste of money!
