Hi everybody, Ive just signed up to this site because ive just bought something that I think deserves a little bit of credit. Ill start her own thread when i get her in 2weeks and I take some better pictures. I think it was a good choice. Im thinking of getting the body resprayed and tidying her up so shes gleaming. Shes quite clean to be fair other then tatty bits here and there.
What are peoples view on this car, I think shes worth me putting the time into.

I ran two of these as my dailys for over a hundred thousand miles between them. A black M reg and a While L reg. Absolutely brilliant workhorses, they just kept on going. I ran the white one on biodiesel, chip oil & petrol...all sorts. Both rusted out underneath in the end.

Yeah good old cars.

Rust will kill it before anything else same with any older cars really, newer stuff tends to be better protected.

Happy motoring.

That's a sight to see I tell you, fully loaded with junk.. I was more hoping to hear maybe someone had boosted one as a project instead I'm more seeing that they make better use if you pretend that they are skips on wheels.

I don't think this on has rusted. Well I hope it hasn't anyway.

Where were the bad spots to check for rust on these 19s

Sills and jacking points.

They are an old skool mechanical pump diesel, there isnt any remapping as such like you can do with modern control systems. It doesn't work like that, I don't think I have ever seen a tuned 19TD lump tbh. Mine were both absolutely the workhorses, as is the Volvo S60 D5 I bought after the second one. That hasnt rusted and i've done 109,000 miles in six years in it lol, just run in now when it tripped over 230,000 miles this week :)

Mechanical diesel pump you say. I had a 306 turbo with mechanical diesel pump on and I could turn the fuel up with an Allen key. I will have to have a look and see. Do you know what pumps are on these. Bosch or Lucas pumps?

Sorry mate I can't remember. I do still have a spare throttle spindle seal for the pump though, if it ever leaks from the throttle linkage on the pump. Been on my kitchen cork board for years!

take pics on how you do the adjustments (y)
I had a 306 D turbo, the adjustments are the same. On the pump is a plastic cap, if you remove the cap and use a mirror, put the car in 5th gear and rock the car. The wheel will turn and in the wheel is an Allen key. U turn the Allen key and it increases or decreases diesel. As for the actuator. I'm.glad to announce that the wastegate actuator arm is accessible from the top of the engine... easy work. My 306 was only accessible from underneath and it was a right pain. Im going to tweak this little beauty. Hopefully I can get 125bhp out of her without changing anything

Il get my own thread going but whilst there people here... Have a sneaky peak of how the girls looking... Getting the centres machined on my retro old fondmetals so they can go on... Quick photoshop
