5 GT Turbo My little 5

I doubt the dv will be staying in ther as I've never ran one since owning the car
But the teenager in the old man couldn't resist having the option

After a rather long winter hibernation I've finally got out to the garage(it's cold)

Whilst standing taking stock of last years achievements I remembered I stripped one of the wheel
Bolts threads and have decided to swap over to studs

Has anyone ever fitted hammer in studs and nuts?
If so what did you use?
I have Williams alloys and am unsure of the nut face angle

In other news I've bought a scissor ramp
No longer will my back hurt from leaning over the front of this bloody car

the go to solution used to be a ford part. Drill out the threads and press the stud in from behind. I did have a part number some where but putting in ford wheel stud on eBay will probably bring them up.

Nuts will just be a tapered one of your choice really. Flats are for steel wheels and there are domed but only fit a few cars like mercs.

Got he studs done a few weeks back

Next hurdle
I'm liking the idea of coil on plug for the f7p
What coils would fit / from what car so I can get plugs for the loom as well
Cheers

I think you'd need to trial fit them - i'd start with maybe a 197 or Megane unit and see how they slot in. You might get a used or knackered one on the FB pages?

Been quiet of late but I did manage to rebuild the gearbox, rework all the engine mounts and rework the entire front end to accommodate an Clio radiator and larger intercooler
Whilst putting it all back in I'm thinking an remote mounted oil filter could be beneficial to help with changes as I can't get my fat fingersalong there to change the filter
What are people using / suggestions if any
Cheers

There's a load of remote heat exchangers out there on motorsport web shops, you want one for an M20 oil filter fitting. Search for oil filter relocation kit M20 or something like that, and DON'T buy the cheapest one you can find, get a branded one like Mocal or similar.

So been a little while and a lot has happened
After nothing but bad luck with the megasquirt I finally threw the towel in and moved it on
At this point last October I viewed a super charged mini with the intention of using it as a doaner car and giving up on the f7
But then quite a lot of videos kept popping up of ignition advantages using the maxxecu mini and it was affordable so one got purchased
Engine now on coil packs and running sweet on a supplied generic map so time for mot

Passed mot and the gearbox blew the fuck up on the way home😂
6miles @ 6psi
Engine out 182 box in all good except a bloody oil leak from the plate that holds the timing end crank seal
Engine out again found the plate cracked lucky I had a spare
All,back in and running good
Managed a solid 300 miles so hoping to get it mapped in the near future
But for the first time in 6 years I'm happy with it

So I bought a corsa vxr steering column and shaft with the adjustable end and everything
Got it on the bench and had a sudden realisation slap
There’s. No enough space under there
Queue some head scratching and I figured I could modify it with the gt turbo shaft and have it at standard location and still have my steering lock and cancelling indicators
So I chopped it up and made a jig

At this point I realised I needed the electrical plugs to fit it
Luck was on my side here
I couldn’t find the plugs anywhere so ended up buying a complete fiat500 column and shaft just to get the plugs
Turns out the lower shaft is bang on length for the 5
Welded it up and made a few brackets swapped over the lower uj on the shaft for the gt end and it all fitted up without having to touch the frame behind the dash
As my car is a stripped out affair I didn’t mind cutting a bit out of the dash to get it in
