Twingo Mingo the F4RT powered Twingo GT

I got some stuff done and had an "intermittance"
Engine out, ndo box off and fucked outside out of my way, I started to modify the 172 belt coverDSC_1227.webp
and instinct took over, Pro tip, don't hold a grinder like a buffer...

So after I had a hand cleaning my stupidity up I got on with the task at hand....... BA Dum tish

DSC_1236.webplopped a bit off the block for more clearanceDSC_1238.webp

I've an exhaust in Stockport but couriers are wanting insane money FedEx wanted £400, so if anyone can help out with that,
And all the 172 bits I need are getting sent tomorrow, leaving me with 9 fitting a rad and clutch to get

Less gore today, but I keep smiling my finger off everything...
Anyway, talking to cg motorsport about getting a clutch made up, hopefully they can help.
Have the 172 bit on the way From Tim Finch, he's a really sound bloke!

And still struggling with the exhaust, it's broken down into sections 125x40x40cm a friend is in London untill Saturday if anyone goes between Stockport and London or hollyhead.

I mounted the pressure regulator, forgot I had a decent rivnut gun and pulled the first one clean through 😬
Eased up and the next two and it's sitting pretty, gonna seal up the back of them with a bit of tec7

Picked up some slightly worn 888 and a048s, as I doubt the ditch finders on it will be up to task.
I got yet more fitting and belive it or not fucked up yet again. Missing 1 poxy 30° fitting.

I had a bit of drama after I fitted the 172 sump and flywheel. The engine was locked solid. Not even the smallest bit of play, I spent all night thinking when did I spin it over last... I even turned down happy fun time with the Mrs it was pissing me off that much. So I did what any petrol head does and reached out to some friends.
In 4 words it became very clear that I am a moron

I thought I was a great lad, ordered and fitted new flywheel bolts for a 225. That has a dual mass, much thicker. So chucked it off and spinning freely, new 172 bolts should land tomorrow on a VOR order.

My exhaust arrived so I'll go about fitting that soon, then a link pipe is getting made and the flange on the downpipe is getting swapped for a v band .

I drilled a great big pissin hole in the bulkhead and fitted the battery through post so I can relocate the battery.

Fitted what lines I could make up, leaving the one I forgot about the fitting for the fuel rail feed. The pvc covered PTFE line is a pure dick to work with it looks like I've be pleasuring a cactus... But nearly there

An explanation on those pictures, I asked for a jr5 and was given a jh3.. . I've spaced down the gearbox mount by 8mm to give a bit of clearance, that's a meg 2 inner gearbox mount, just have to elongate the mounting holes a small bit.
It looks light for the flywheel and clutch but fuck it, we will see how it goes.
The fuel system finally done. Gonna test it out and watch for leaks

It's been a while since I updated, loads of stuff happing all at once, now that I'm married I have a bit of free time.

There is gonna be a lot of pictures so be warned.

Fuel system check went ok ish. I could only get a bar of pressure out of it which is very wrong, loads of faffing about and a bit of thinking I came to the conclusion that the in tank swirl pot and reg were the problem, I just removed the bottom of the pump assembly and re routed the pipe work so it went from pump straight up to fitting.

So loads of pressure now

56k users I am very sorry, I tried to give it a more scripted words and photos but it's difficult on a phone sooooo photo dump, and next post I'll do a lot of shite talking

Well I've gotten the car out of the shed big little mile stone, l fitted a set of aerocatch pins as the way my Tb is meant the normal mech had to go! New febi bilstien ball joints gone on, the wishbone bushes are fairly tatty looking but in time they will be done. I might go for spherical bush all round.

I've new cylinders on the rear,
Flushed the brake fluid as it looked like it's the original fluid.
Docked about with the 63mm IC pipework to realise I'm a moron and had the boost circuit plumbed and the coolant circuit run complete and working, just not in the car at the same time.
Now a pukka Aussie dude fucked me over by saying "no two objects can occupy the same space at the same time" thanks Pauli you wombat wanker.
I've got it all out and I'll figure something out.

If you are re bushing anyway it would be the perfect time to fit 172 wishbones and anti roll bar, more castor and a better design with the clamp on antiroll bar vs the silly hanging ones the GT and povo spec Clio's have. Looking good and its a great feeling to get a project out and rolling around (y)

So my ecu arrived back from Chris on Monday! I was beyond excited, got home from work ignored the wife and child and out to the car, plugged in and proceeded to disappoint myself in am epic fashion, I was hoping I could finally move the car under its own power. I had no clutch, car running and idling great, but no way to move it. Long story short the clutch line kept disconnecting so I got a new one.

Me and @Adey have a bet on how long to get the engine out and change it and back in.
He reckons 4 hours, I think 3,
what's everyone's guesses?

Few pictures for ye too
