Megane Meg' RS 265 tyre pressure warning light

Hi Guys, searched hi' and low on the forum for an answer but can't find one, So is there anyone in the West Midlands who can delete the tyre pressure warning light on my Meg' RS 265 with that CLIP diagnostic thingy ? I've seen that Diamond Motors in Nottingham do it, (will go there if no result on here but it's a bit far for me).
Can anyone do it ? will pay of course.

First question I will ask is, Why? is it due to a fault or do you want to just deactivate the system
There are many reasons why you shouldn't have it deactivated with the main ones being insurance becoming invalid as you would be deleting a safety related item, second is from a certain date if the vehicle has a functioning TPM system if originally fitted at the factory & could fail the MoT.
If there is a fault I would highly recommend to get it fixed.

Drop me a PM mate, I have a mate here with the snap-on computer that should be able to do it, he charges a tenner a go for referrals from me but please heed what Rich said above.

Thanks for the reply Red21, reason is Steev alloys fitted which don't have the sensors and I prefer not to have a warning light on all the time, it's a new car so no MOT for 3 years of course, I am aware of POSSIBLE ins'/MOT issues and I have researched this extensively over the last 2 weeks and found some very interesting info' which I'll post soon.
Cheers.

Why didn't you get the valves swapped or get additional ones? Cost
At the time of acquiring the 19s /new tyres/fitting etc it never occurred to me, DOH, new sensors (Renault) plus all the tyres off/refitting etc would be in the region of £400, PLUS, the new sensors have to be coded to the car by a main dealer, Gawd knows what that would cost!, don't really fancy having original tyre and sensors removed/new 19s removed/sensors fitted and typically you need a replacement fitting kit cos' the seals sometimes knacker up when being removed/new tyres refitted and balanced, the cost of all the above would be heading for a grand..there are a couple of firms that supply non Renault sensors (Chinese ?) and are apparently able to code them to your car just by being told the reg' #. prob' cheaper to burn the car !!!
I'll see what I'll do in due course.
Cheers.

Just a quick word on these Tyre Pressure Sensors.... IF you put the original wheels back on they have to go back in the exact same corner of the car they were removed from... The system works in conjunction with the main body computer to correct the "skid" if you have a sudden tyre deflation.. ie a blow out....

IF your drivers side front tyre was to blow the system automatically activates the ABS on the passenger side rear to prevent a spin even before you know its happened, it will monitor and attempt to adjust steering angles using the ABS system.....It's pretty awesome how it works... until someone swaps front's to rear's, to even out tyre wear,,,, car assumes the wrong tyre has blown and ends up putting you in a Top Gun style flat spin at 100mph+ .. which is awesome around Donington :-)

I understand why you want the light out, but be aware its a big job to reconfigure the originals back in after , as each has an individual code and transponder, unique and programmed to each corner when fitted... on some you even have to remove the tyre to write down the code , then reprogramme to the car individually...They also have a shelf life so may not even work again after 3 years...

I can confirm the MK 3 thing, with my 19"s on (no sensors) I get "tyre pressure sensors absent" message on the display at switch on which disappears after a few secs but leaves the little tyre warning light on, refitting the 18"s (with sensors) the error messages and lights all correct themselves within 5 miles.
I solved the warning light on by putting a little circular piece of black tape over the light so it's not visible from the drivers position, I like simple solutions:ag:

Years ago I had an A35 van (yes, really), 27bhp, 55mph was really peggin' it !, I had cheapo remoulds all round and on one of the rears the remould tread split and one end was flailing around and hitting the wheel arch at more than 10mph, (it polished the arch a treat), I solved it by tying a piece of rope thro' the wheel and over the loose end, problem was the rope kept wearing out every 20-30 miles or so.:bp:

Thank You... (y).. I left Renault when the Mark 2 's were new . and thankful someone actually thought about it at the programming level..

PaulB is bang on, best of it is... the very early mark 2 phase 1 megane rs had this system, then they removed it for the phase 2! it went back to being just a tpms..... the they bring it back again for the mk3 megane!!!

guess someone was on the wine that day
