I run an F7P turbo, so its map sensor based mapping to the standard chipped ECU

currently running 15psi (1.1Bar) through a renault 21 turbo 2.0bar map sensor (to the best of my knowledge thats what it is)

to up the boost i guess i require a new 3.0bar sensor as the first 1.0 bar is atmospheric right?

any advice and info on what i need and where from much appreciated, what do you guys use if you up the boost over 1.1bar?

cheers

Ben

Any 3 bar MAP sensor with that generic fitting will do mate, but you will have to remap your ECU to the different data it produces.

If we use one it's ECU EPROM chip or standalone.

so theres no direct replacement that works with same signal just a wider range?

so theres no direct replacement that works with same signal just a wider range?

They all give the same signal, 0-5v, but the boost at which a certain signal (voltage) is give will vary.

2 Bar-
-1=0v
-0.5=1.25v
0=2.5v
+0.5=3.75v
1=5v

3 Bar-
-1=0v
-0.5=0.83v
0=1.66v
+0.5=2.5v
+1=3.33v
+1.5=4.16v
+2=5v

This means if you plug a 3bar in to a 2bar map, it'll run waaaaay lean.

idea is fastchips do a 21psi chip for my engine, and its mapped to a 3.0 bar map sensor, so i was hoping there was one i'd just plug straight in like the current one without hacking the loom up

cheers for the help people, much appreciated

just had a nosey, all look to be import efforts from the USA, any thoughts? anyone used one of the sellers and can vouch for them being kosher? always a bit wary about purchasing good from afar

cheers

I got mine from the states arrived fine just look out for the shops selling them as you have some come back then.

Also try googleing the seller and see what pops up. i did this and only found compliments about the seller i used.

btw I can't remember who i used.

Thats a good price tbh, I got mine from USA and in the end had to pay import duty etc etc..and worked out quite expensive

Just out off interest, can you give us some specs on the car ?

The 19 turbo (F7P) whe build does 196 at the wheels with 0.6 bar boost (8.5 psi)

Compleet standard (rebuild) engine (machined pistons -1.1mm = CR 9.1:1)
T28 turbo
2 bar mapsensor (std 21T)
802's (std 21T)
TB moved from left to right, straith connection on the IC
2.5" downpipe and exhaust
custom mapped by Fastchip

Driven from Belgium to FCS, to holland (north) and several other wide distances. Reliable at 200%

similar setup,

rebuilt engine, standard bar wossener 8.5:1 low comp pistons and spesso 1.6mm kevlar headgasket
gt28rs turbo
standard 21t map sensor
standard 21t injectors
pace chargecooler setup
2.5" turbo back exhaust with side exit, 2 box system
fastchips off the shelf chip
15psi
around 260bhp at the fly, 250lb/ft of torque

seems to be reliable now after i rebuilt the car, but its eating gearboxes for breakfast

can you get hold of henk at fastchips at all? i cant seem to get contact with him or anyone there at all

cheers

Ben

thats no problem...

What do you want from him ? If you want you can meet him september 5th. Some guy's from over here are comming over for a custom map.

As for you're gearbox, try the 172/182 JC5-128 or 129 box. Whe gonna use the JC5-130 (rs ragnotti Grn over here).

For the moment whe dont use wossner or uprated pistons. Just standard pistons, -1.1mm skimmed and that the reason why whe drive low boost.
