Southbound was clearly the direction to be heading since shortly there after the M3 ground to halt, there was an accident blocking the whole of the M25 just after the M3 junction Heathrow bound, and for a while I thought I'd miss my flight. Fortunately the A30 came good and we missed out all the offending bits.
