this GT turd is still alive. Prices have gone down a lot in Europe. It would have made sense to get a Laguna 3 / 204. The vialle gpl conversion liquid injection really was the strong point of this car. But a smart person would have started with a better base. So what is new now?
- I woke the UCH out of the zombie mode. The car ran without faults. But in clip, only a few ECU appeared. Using clip and the various options of "Getting to know unkown ECU"- or whatever the translation to English would be got rid of that problem. Great!
- changed the leaking radiator and fitted a new AC condenser,
- replaced the orifice tube. I suppose this debris is to be expected? I do have a new AC compressor. Might fit that as well and clean out some of the hoses.
- replaced the scratched mudguards, passenger doors and most importanly...
- fitted a red go faster GT sticker and yellow foglamps.
I do like the yellow foglights on a dark coloured car. What do you think of the status of the orifice tube?

p.s. I think the electric water pump is not running after switching off the hot engine. Will have to investigate that. The megane 3 has an option in clip to get it running. I could not find the option in the sagem S3000 ecu.
Last year a nearly new press car gearbox from a Megane 180 was installed. It goes very well, no noises. But 2000km later when I replaced a Drivesaft boot, i found this.
So i have a terrible suspicion. Either the gearbox is frying one of its bearings. Or my mechanic/ friend(!?) filled in the gearbox oil from the old gearbox instead of using the new oil i provided. As he decides how much I pay him, the second case does not make at all. But is more probable, I fear.
I will drain the oil again in after a second 2000km and expect it to be clear. No more jobs for said mate who has been working on Renaults for more than 40 years.
Gearbox rebuilt and / or strong words required soon
Hi,
The whole story is quite irritating.
I think i have brought 5-10 other clients to him. Even my parents had their car fixed there...
Then he insisted on having done the bushes of the rear axle of my Laguna together with the gearbox swap and was vividly telling us how the first side took him ages and the second one was quicker... Checking the knocking noises at the then resulted in discovering shot original bushes that he had never touched....
Really sad story. Early stages of dementia? Envy? I have thought quite a lot about it, as you might guess. He might also have had a mate do the gearbox swap...
There are still no noises from the gearbox. It is hard to believe that oil can get so contaminated in 2000km while the box functions perfectly.
PK4 17 are about 350 Euros. Is there any experience rebuilding them? I have decided to my own work now when ever possible
