Insurance gone up £400

Last year I paid £580 for a year and the best I am getting at the moment is £1000 with ridiculous excess. I am 34, car is garaged at night in greater London and I dont use it for work. 3 points for SP 30 and I have moved out of the motor trade into a less risky job. Apparently it is due to all the extra claims made during the snowy periods. Anyone else renewing at the moment and finding the same hike in price. I was looking forward to below £500 as I now have 11 years NCB and no claims....... Dont really want to chip into the exhaust fund to cover my insurance!!!! [smilie=icon_cry.gif]

Who are you insured with, mate?

Insurance companies are acting lawless all over at the moment.

Give Adrian Flux a call for a quote.

I had a ver good quote from Aviva last week, whilst I was insuring the 172 with them. 6 points for 2xSP30's and a fault claim last year. All that and still under £500.00. I've just turned 43 [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

I am with Admiral at the mo but waiting for their renewal quote!!!!

Shaun. Thats the figure I was hoping to pay this year..........

It gets better. The quote had an exess of £3000..... Me finks they are on drugs.....

Insurance is crazy at the moment, my mates quote went up £100 in the space of three weeks....circumstances remained the same but everyone is quoting more :s

Did you call or do that online Shaun? Think Aviva might be my first port of call next month! :approve:

Insurance sounds worrying so much so sorted mine out tonight with Aviva

£320 full comp. I am 51, but have used my no claim on my Volvo V70 with Aviva, so they gave me a discount, dont know how much thou.

But the rub is they want standard excess of £350, plus another £500 due to it being a special high performance car

(has anybody else had this extra excess added who's with them?)

and they will want another £200 if i take it to a non approved repairer. That £1050 in excess, but paid and extra £40 and reduced the £350 excess to £150.

I dont think that's a bad deal considering I have no bonus to use. I did not take the breakdown or the legal cover though.

I was getting quotes for the 172 at the time, I forgot to save the quote number so ended up calling them about it to check the quote was correct. Whilst on the phone, I asked about the vee. They took my 9yrs bonus into account, and came up with the sub £500 quotation, which is valid for 3 months.. just long enough to swap my custom to them when it runs out.

As Steve mentioned, there was a £350 excess plus an additional £200 if dont use one of there repairers. I also disclosed my seats and exhaust modifications to them too.

BTW.. My last insurer for the 172 wanted over £1k excess this year, that and they were still £40 more on a £369 premium over Aviva!! LOL

Shaun

That will be £350 standard excess plus £500 performance car excess plus £200 non approved repair excess total £1050

unless you got a better deal than me, we are talking about the V6

Steve

Steve..

Just checked the quote, and I was a little wrong. £650 excess plus the £200 for non approved repairer. £456.99 premium :approve:

That'll do for me! :)
